I personally don't think that Winnipeg can support a hockey team for the long run -- unless the Canadian economy favours the country. Canada is doing a little better than America at present, but Winnipeg is still the smallest city and has the smallest economy compared to the other Canadian hockey cities. I'm just really cautious about this. Also, as an Ontarian I wished that Jim Basille had been able to get the Phoenix Coyotes into Southern Ontario. He was a jerk about how he tried to do it, but he was a guy who would have supported the team and whatever city they would have ended up in financially through any downturn.
The NFL in Toronto is actually a bad a idea. Contrary to what Rogers' PR says, they can't sell out tickets to Buffalo Bills games at the Rogers Centre at all. They were pricing tickets at $5 and then even giving them away free after they saw that games were only half sold. My workplace received dozens of free tickets the same day as the summer 2010 games. | |
