#1 Post at 30-1-2009 11:51  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L batting cage If I opened a baseball - softball batting cage in --Kwun Tong in old factory what do you think?   Only one outdoor batting cage in HK now.  Lam Tin and it is run by government.      Would you be willing to head over and hit some balls?       Lots of golf places but no batting cages.      Reply with your opinions please.

#3 Post at 30-1-2009 12:10  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Reply #1 schlong's post I don't think baseball is popular enough in HK.  That said, with only one cage in Lam Tin, you might have a shot.  IMO there aren't enough driving ranges in HK.  They surely need the practice!  lol Just remember if you do open one, you gotta make it nice; if it's no-frills, people might not go.  Clientele are quite picky in HK.

We have a sponsor from the US too.   Softball is even more popular. Actually baseball/softball are growing in HK -  Mens and womens. Go to Tai Wo Ping on Sunday in Shep Kip Mei and see all the teams practicing there and playing. Its impressive.  Thats just one location too.

#6 Post at 31-1-2009 03:46  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L nah I thinks not , cricket is way more advanced that softball / base ball , a normal bowled ball is easy to hit , but then in the UK I sometimes play with Indian/Pakistani descended folks who can spin balls really nasty fashion, more so than a cheap machine can , which is just a couple of tyres and a cage of balls in a funnel sort of arrangement... Also cricket balls are MUCH harder than base balls, Life is short very...

#7 Post at 31-1-2009 22:15  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L i would've thought by now someone would've made a machine that could replicate those spinners, maybe not to the high degree that the accomplished cricket players can but enough to keep the sunday sportsman happy. i guess maybe they'd be too expensive. you're right, of course, about how much harder it is to hit those bouncing cricket balls. i'd think, however,  that baseballs are faster, cause you can bend your arm and the ball doesn't lose energy by bouncing off the ground. i'm just guessing. i'm no expert in either sport, altho both look line fun to play.

#9 Post at 2-2-2009 08:00  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L Baseball just isn't big enough in HK to do anything.  Even in China, they are just getting their feet wet, although I am positive that China will produce very impressive players within the next 2 decades, especially with the help of the MLB.  I doubt it will ever be as big as in Japan or Taiwan.
