was in champagne court B today for a wander and met 2 police dudes walking about. I panicked left the place! question is, what were the police doing? and would you get the jail if you got caught with a girl? is it illegal to visit the girls in those places? just curious?

If you get 'caught' they will only ask you for your ID and what you were up to. There's nothing illegal with being with those girls, and they are mostly after the illegal overstayers etc.

141 stands for 1 girl for 1 guy (I think). It is illegal for a girl to work for a pimp (she has to be self-employed). It is also illegal to work in a brothel. H.K. has very little violent crime, a highly educated populace (many speak English), the H.K. dollar is undervalued (your Euro/USD goes a long way here), there is no capital gains tax, no sales tax, and no tax on foreign-earned income. The police were probably there to protect you, not hassle you. Keep in mind that most guys that are mongering are carrying at least 400 HKD in their pocket so they were probably there to deter pickpockets. If they ask to look at your I.D., it is only to look for illegal immigrants. They mainly only want to look at the girls' I.D. to look for visa overstayers from China/Thailand/Phillipines. If they ask for your I.D., it is only because you also happen to be there, too. So relax and have fun   I used to be really uptight, but I'm slowing learning to relax. An improbable question, the cops can imagine what you want there. But in case simply answer, you visiting a girlfriend. The reaction of the cops is probably a smile.
