42 Bute Street & Recommendations

Going back to Hong Kong soon after a few years and curious to know whether establishments like 42 Bute Street and K Pressure are still open? If not would love to know some good walk up alternatives. Thanks!

Yes, it is still open. I visited just before Christmas. They still have the special discounted price before 2pm.

Sorry, I was not clear. I was referring to 42 Bute Street. I visited 42 Bute Street again yesterday around 12 noon, it was busy. Not bad for HKd 380. The lady at the desk even offered me a drink as I was leaving.

Thanks

Not having any family in China, I look at the border opening as bad, bringing in infected people and "health tourists" sucking up scarce public health resources that poorer HK people rely on who can't use private Drs and hospitals and creating a medicine shortage. I am sure it will be moderated with quotas for a month or so and then a free for all as the quotas end.

It willl, however, bring in more talent and much needed competition, and get places like KP back in business.

Keep on mongering

I think the unknown of how prevalent CV19 is in China is a bit concerning. The reports of the border opening Sunday could be a big nothing burger, or the opening of the flood gates of positive cases to HK. I’m quite surprised that the “band-aid” was ripped off so abruptly. No testing, no real plan for what to do when cases flood the city, removal of LHS requirements, etc. Personally, I’m going to give it a few weeks before visiting providers to see how things normalize.

I told some of my regulars that I may be absent for a month or so as well. They fully understand. I have purchased a lot of Panadol and cough syrup, expecting the worst. In my office we already have staff we are asking to stay home and work for a week when another family member in their flat is ill. This will be very disruptive to Hong Kong even if illness is not serious (for young and relatively healthy people). For old people we are back to last March where Hong Kong leads the world in published deaths. Published.

Regarding the above discussion concerning KP. It was a real Hong Kong institution and part of my routine. I found it by chance in another forum which was active years ago something like World Sex Guider or International Sex Guide. It was always my ready standby and go to place and from 2005 to 2020, it took me from boy to man. I met 2 high-quality providers they are in 2008 and 2012, and I am still in touch with both (i.e. meet them on "dates") today. The mama san/rabbis were very helpful over the years helping me identify exactly what I was looking for and ensuring quality control and consistency: Moon, Mandy and Elaine. The place was never about youth or beauty, it was about service. That's what I wanted, as I am neither young nor beautiful myself.

It was one more tragic loss for Hong Kong these past few years, together with everything else

Keep on mongering
