Has anyone here ever chatted with girls using LINE's "People Nearby" function? Occassionally there are some hot girls found there and I have tried texting some of them and they would add me and usually they would start off asking you where you are in HK and then they would say that they are doing 兼職  and asked if 你需要. TTheir rate is usually almost the same around HK$800 for two hours. If you ask them where they are, they would give you a location but never the exact place and would ask you to meet them at a 7-11.

I have tried to google search around to see if there is any info on this sort of stuff but there is nothing. Has anyone here had any experience with these girls? Are these scams?

I have just read a post below that there is similar girls found in Wechat and they are scamming people into buying prepaid cards. But the details are lacking. Does anyone has any more detail account of these scams? what is the purpose of the prepaid cards? The girls on LINE cannot write in English thought, almost all of them will ignore people using English. They only write in Chinese.

Its a scam.  They will send you hot pics. Ask you to meet at a mall. when you get there, they will ask to pay by means of buying some kind of prepaid card (from a nearby 7-11) and ask you to send a photo and promise to meet you AFTER you send the photo.  Of course, once you buY and send the photo, its "so long sucker".

having used wechat people nearby in thailand. i now tend to stay away from girls sending me pictures. most of the girls send pictures of korean fashion models and minor celebs pretended that its them. stay away. its just eating into your limited time there.

gift card scam is so played out.

Every now and then I get bored and check out the wechat/line nearby feature. One night I message this chick and after negotiation I went to her address in NP. As soon as I get there she asks for a photo of the building to "make sure I'm at the correct place". I send it and she says she's gonna come down, and asks for my phone number. Hesitant I say just call me on Line if u need to. She says OK. Few min later she ask me to deposit my money into this phone card at 7/11. Bitch please.. I instantly blocked her and left. Clearly a scam..

BTW for the other future bros that will run into this. Her name was "something whatsapp 852xxxxxxxx". I see "girls" on Line quite often with similar names. I'm assuming they're all part of the same scam. So just beware

BTW - I know the "People nearby" function on WeChat but I can't see anything similar on Line. Can someone explain where to find it? Or is there some confusion between the two messaging services here?

Hmmmm, remember that I used Wechat to find girls in Phuket some years ago, and remember what showed up at my door? Twice?!  Need I remind to be careful about doing this kind of stuff?  I don't think the result from LINE is going to be much different than Wechat outside of China.... HK included...
