Good way to talk to a walk-up WG?

Newbie with 1 punt in but realize I might be kinda rude about how I start my convo. I just say hi how much in cantonese lol. I speak mediocre cantonese and can't read/write, so that definitely doesn't help either .

Is it better to be direct and ask for how much /what service? Or do you try to a bit more playful about it or is that just wasting their time?
