"hairdresser,s " Island

Hey bro,s ,

Dont know if anyone can help.....

I keep hearing stories about "hairdressers Island " ....supposedly somewhere very close to Hong Kong island ...

I am told there is an almost seperate state , and there is an unofficial police force ....

There are supposedly lots of "hairdressers " shops where mainland girls are brought in to "service " the workforce on the island.

One rumour is that you can charter a speedboat taxi from central to get there ?

Anyone have any info on the place ?

I have my own speedboat and would easily be able to go there if I knew where it was .... if it exists at all ....

Is this one of the famous Hong Kong "stories / legends"  or does it really exist ?????

Be grateful for any info ....

Thanks bro,s

Cheers

JOSH

Sounds a bit strange to me in that if it was very good then it should be more famous. If it's not famous then it can't attract that many people. Which means that there can't be that much revenue for the WGs or incentive for them to be there. But would be happy for you to find out otherwise .

Pre Shenzhen

I heard from local friends that it was really popular before Shenzhen and Dongguan became so accessible and cheap. Also heard that gwai los are turned away because of the fact that it is technically in China.

Why bother trying to "sneak" in when China is already so convenient, accessible and cheap. One should also consider the matter of safety as you will be illegally entering another country. If something goes wrong while you're there it could be very troublesome. I've heard of such an island a few years ago. But I never got around to visiting it though I've had a lot of invitations. Nobody mentions it now so I guess its attraction has diminished.

If I remember correctly there is no immigration point there. It's only a small island. All those from Hong Kong that go there (by boat) do so without using papers. Never heard of anyone going there via China. It was a novelty back then. Don't know about now.

I’ll tell you what I know (may not be accurate as I’ve never been there) if you promise not to try and sneak in.

The place is called Ling Ding Dao (Ling Ding Island). It’s somewhere near Zhuhai. It was made famous by workers working on the Lantau airport. Most probably they jumped into the company boat every day after work to get their hair washed across the waters as it was so near. People from Hong Kong (mongerers) caught on and went there by speedboat (those used to smuggle goods and people) from Hong Kong and the place flourished. I haven’t heard anything about it in the past few years. It must have died down when the airport was completed and all the workers left Lantau.

I think you can still get there via ferry from Zhuhai. If you are really curious take the ferry and check out the place. Let us know if the old Ling Ding Dao still exists.

Good knowledge . Sounds like it was flourishing from a gap in the market but now that China is open, and airport finished, it is probably pretty dead.

Hmmm.......Wonder if this is the place my old man goes with his mates in the past...?

No need of visa and sneaking in ....monger then back to HK as though he had been out drinking & eating with friends.

`Fi teng`(Hi-powered or multi engined speed boats) normally used for transporting goods to china the black market way was the way to go..

I wonder....
