Separate we chat accounts?

So I'm sort of new to wechat, so bare with me with this very stupid question (i also asked elsewhere, but perhaps more appropriate here):

How do you keep your personal we chat separate from your punting we chat?

Separate mobile phones?

Personally I keep 2 separate phones with different IDs. This keeps your punting info, photos, logs, and contacts away and siloed from your normal life, SO or gf. I believe your wechat id follows your number, so a separate sim is ok but cumbersome when switching out sims. I keep relationship George away from independent George, otherwise the worlds will collide.

Separate, sim-independent, phones.

If you have a SO, do not activate the fingerprint feature on your "black" (aka punting) phone.  If discovered by your SO, you can claim not yours, or having forgotten the passcode.

I have 2 separate Wechat accounts on the same phone.  I used Google (gmail) to get a phone number and then used that number to create a 2nd Wechat account.   Only need the code they send the number.

I accidentally stumbled upon this when buying a phone to replace my old NOTE3, I needed a phone that was compatible with China Mobile's proprietary CDMA network. I think they call it TD-SCDMA, only China Mobile is using it..

Answer: bought a NOTE 5 dual sim model from CMHK shop, I use a sim card from CMHK and CSL, but if you don't go to china, I'd assume any dual sim model from other shops may work (?), but dual sim phones are usually only purchased by frequent China, HK travellers, so you are probably only going to find it at the China Mobile, China Telecom carriers.

The best part: NOTE has this program called KNOX which allows you to sandbox a area of the memory and you can password lock or even fingerprint lock (I haven't tried fingerprint, but I use a pretty complex password anyways).

I can install 2x whatsapp, wechat, QQ, whatever, one into the Android client itself and one into the KNOX container itself, you can even run separate Google Play Store. It;s like having two phones in one, set the auto password lock in KNOX to 2 minutes, I think default is 30, of just set it to lock everytime you press the power key to shut off the screen.

oh and dont forget to turn off the alerts on the whatsapp for example inside KNOX, the popup's still show unless you lock in down inside KNOX, default is not locked down IIRC, Happy Hunting and may you always keep your personal punting logs from prying eyes

I registered two wechat accounts with different emails, didn't need phone number anywhere. But I don't remember how.

Two phones, preferably one iPhone, the other Android.  Use the same OS as your SO for your regular phone and the other as your dirty device - makes it hard if the device is found for your SO to access or recognise how it works (as they are very different).

Always have separate accounts for Wechat, Skype, Whatsapp, email, etc.  Don't cross over between worlds, the risk rises significantly.

Lastly leave your dirty device in aircraft mode when you turn it off, that way if your SO or anyone else for that matter accesses it, no messages will pop which are a dead giveaway.
