translation app for iPhone / android for 141 communications no english Girls

hi guys I'm wondering what is the best translator app to communicate with 141 walk ups i it seams to be the only way i can communicate with the girls. i think I'm losing a lot of opportunities / options that girls offter also applicable with communicating though txt with handlers. currently I'm using google translate I'm looking for an option with a more friendly / interactive interface that you can just press a button and the key pad will turn in Chinese characters.

translate

I also use wechat.  Works well most of the time, however on occasion, the translate doesn't work because it uses Google to translate and PRC blocks it randomly.  Also with wechat, it works best with an internet connection.  There is an app called Jibbigo that I use that does not require an internet connection and you talk into it and it translates and speaks back in Chinese.  Not perfect, but helps.

I'm a big user of Google Translate. The girls all know how to switch the keyboard to Chinese to write to me and I can flip it around and write in English. A few years back the translation quality was shittier, but it has improved IMHO.

Wechat works for talking and keeping in touch after the sessions, but because the message has to send I prefer Google translate to avoid the lag time from the mobile networks.

The keyboard is a simple setting on your phone.

You need to enable or download a Chinese input method / keyboard.  There are a couple, including character entry, pinyin and a couple of others.  Whether you use iOS or Android, it's in the settings.  Seek and you will find.
On Android you can download additional keyboard systems, I use TouchPal - it's called Swype on iOS.

Once it's installed you can switch to and from the Chinese input system by tapping the relevant key.

For translation, see above ... google translate and wechat are good ...
I myself use a chinese dictionary, which doesn't require either internet or google access ... but that's only possible if you know a few phrases and are searching for a single word you got stuck on.

To add onto The Mayor's comments, Google Translate allows you to download the dictionaries for offline use. they have a simplified and traditional Chinese database.

On a side note, I am forever using this when I got to Chinese restaurants because you can take a photo of a menu in the app, highlight some text and it translates it. Saves me from unintended duck tongue.
