Looking after valuables - Walk-ups

Hi Bro's,

I need some tips/advice when showering pre/post punting. One the 2 occasions I've been to a walk-up, I've always been asked to shower alone, and this means I leave my wallet/valuables outside of the toilet/shower. On my 2 occasions, I have been lucky and nothing has been pinched. Should I take my wallet in with me when I shower or will I look a bit silly?

I'm certainly not a rich guy but I usually have lots of notes (of various denominations) sitting in my wallet, so it would be hard for me to tell if anything has been stolen. I doubt a WG would steal a watch/mobile phone, but cash I think is easy.

Any tip appreciate it !

I think many of us have valuables we leave in pockets and on tables when we punt and shower, etc. perhaps I have been lucky in my many years of punting in Hong Kong but I have never had a single item taken. In fact, I have had ladies call me to tell me I left a luxury watch at their place and interrupted punts of some other blokes to hand it out the door to me (fat drunk and stupid IS, actually a good way to go through life sometimes).

In a walk-up, the girl is there pretty much all the time. She isn't going to do a runner. If you are missing something, she doesn't want or need the negative attention. She is unlikely to steal from you. Over charge you, maybe, teal from you? No.

Bar girl pick ups on the other hand, be very careful. They will steal from you. I've been lucky that my worst experience is being pick pocketed in Manhattan's in Shanghai but I've heard of much worse. Anyway, in a walk up you should be good just check your pockets before you go.

If you're really that concerned with theft during a session, there are always things that you can do. The trailer park is really boring, so I run around quite a bit, and often to rather interesting neighborhoods. I've used all sorts of methods to secure my stuff. If I'm traveling on foot or by car and I didn't need to open my pack up often, I used to zip tie it shut. I'd keep  asmall pair of wire cutters in my pocket.
I've also used twist ties and pipe cleaners. Pipe cleaners are great if you're on  abus tour. they can be colourful, so you can use that to identify your bag at the same time.
For quick security against pick pocketers, I use carabiners…locking say my camera bag to my backpack.Stringing things together, bike locks work also

Lately, I've been using products from pacsafe. A little pricier than I would like, but really well done.

Finally...if you h@ve a spy/gadget store nearby, they do sell little security alarms that can go off if the sensors are separated. Would be good for pockets. I don't like having things in my pockets, so I haven't looked into these in a long time. I do know they exist tho. Too pricey for my trailer park income. Kekeke.

The solution to valuable is easy. Rule #2 applies to this.

My punting (and heavy partying) rules:

Rule #1 - NEVER go anywhere alone with anyone you don't know, to anyplace you don't know.

Rule #2 - NEVER take anything with you that you cannot afford to lose.

Rule #3 - NEVER give your last name or anything that identifies you).
Use a "girly" or punt phone with a pre-pay simm and use a yahoo/gmail email account. Cheap used $400 androids found at Sham Shui Po are really good for this. Just remember to back up your contact lists.

Thanks for the tips. I'm really more concerned about a WG pinching the odd note from my wallet.

I suppose I should just ensure I don't carry to much cash on hand then.

Easy solution...  If you're really concerned, just count your money before a session and take a cell phone picture of every bill in your wallet.  Then you'll know if she's pinched an odd note, and you'll be able to prove it.  This evidence should stand up even if you need to call the cops to sort it out...

Have fun, CGP

... but I usually have lots of notes (of various denominations) sitting in my wallet ...

and that right there is your problem.

Simple bro: have another wallet, which has only enough money for the punt, a tip, and travel to and from the deed.  And leave your real wallet in your desk / car / home / wherever you feel it's safe.  Heck, put it in a bag (with a lock) and check it in to a bag storage if you don't have a secure base.

You can't relax if you're wondering if you've been robbed or are worrying you might be about to be robbed.

95% of the time you won't be.
And 90% of the remaining 5% it'll be the sort of robbing that happens all the time: cutting the time short, refusing to do what she promised, demanding a bigger payment, etc.

A better approach is to assume you will be robbed, budget for it, and plan accordingly.  Then you can (finally) relax and enjoy the journey.

Truth is the girls get robbed too ... I'm even ready to bet it's more often than the guys ... by guys who refuse to pay, take too long, insist she does things she didn't want to do, and of course those who literally find her wallet and empty it.  It happens.

absolutely correct ! ... over the last decade, any new to the trade walk up girl I visit and we get along well the first thing I advise them is how to keep their money and cell phone safe in the room ... they don't get robbed but fuckwits do steel money, jewelry and phones from these girls ... especially their cell phone !

for walk ups, its not likely they'll take some money taken from their john's wallet ... these girls would be weary that the john can always find them again
