Going to a town not listed in the report section. Not a small town, still multi-million, but it seems like there isn't much information.

About me: Non-Asian guy, no Chinese language skills, traveling alone for business. What would you do in my situation?

The town has a few famous tourist hotels. Dated reports from other websites said to stay there, go to the hotel bar, and hope for a freelancer.
With recent crackdowns seeming to be country-wide, I'm not very hopeful. I appreciate any general advice or stories about finding something out in the provinces.

My hope is to find someone on WeChat that can text in English.
Specific questions:
What should I look for when contacting a WeChat girl? Any signs that she'll be down? (Remember, I can say my name and count to 10 in this language.)
Tell-tale signs of a scam?
What's a price range for WeChat? For FL?

just use google translate, just ask them if they are working, it would be quite clear. worse case they blow you off since you aren't working, thats all.

Follow up questions:
Hotels - Are most hotels in China WG friendly? Will there be a problem/fee for bringing a guest into the room? (Sorry, my only experience is in Korea = no problem; Thailand = usually a problem.)

And follow up on the WeChat -- I just ask in Chinese "You working tonight?" That seems a little ambiguous. Any language help appreciated, at least for initiating WeChat conversations with WG.

The hotel issue depends on the city.  If you are using WeChat, it's the girl's responsibility to get to your room.  Or make it her responsability.  After 11pm might be a issue with some hotels.

I would not say anything like that on social media.  If they are looking they will ask, "you want service?"  Then you ask how much.  Then you laugh and cut the amount in half as a counter offer.  Then ask for video chat or at least photos and tell them you will refuse if the girl who arrives does not look like the photos.

As for initiating... start in English.  Ask "Hello, do you speak English?"

Well I can communicate in Chinese, so yes for English first ask if they speak English.

And normally I would ask them "what do you do? "

But I see nothing wrong with asking them if they are working, worst case they tell you to bugger off.  They shouldn't have turned on the people near by function and post pictures of their cleavage and short dresses all over we chat moments. What did they expect to happen?

But it's intentionally ambiguous, because a wg will know exactly what you mean, where as a non wg would have to assume your meaning and if she takes offense you could just play it off as the literal meaning.

I have had more than one civie come over for a one night stand off of social media.  That's why I don't suggest asking if she is working.  Play nice and if she is she will ask you.  If she isn't she might flirt and you could end up with a more exciting (probably less atractive) freebee.

Basically, you need to develop your own game.  There's no right or wrong way.

Google translate is the way to go in terms of language. And winking and hubba hubba emicons transcend language lol!!!

I spend alot of time in smaller cities in china, I recon MoMo is alot better in terms of identifying & locating WG's, There will be a few tell tail signs they are WG's, often the profession is listed as "Freelance" or "Services", generally the more seductive the photos the more chance they can service you, im talking lying on bed showing cleavage etc...Once you get the jist of it you'll know what to look for.

And yes you will encounter civi's but its part of the fun, a couple who i have mistakenly propositioned have friended me
and now pop up asking how my crusades are going! And if i have sexy girl making me breakfast.

I find it hard without language skills but I'll give Wechat/translate a shot next time.

I actually missed out one some action in a small town hotel next to Zhongshan (my business connection booked for me), they had in house "sauna" and I never knew. Hotel was quite empty, they even canceled breakfast buffet and served breakfast to order with limited choice. On my last day, 2 girls sitting in the reception lounge chat me up and follow me to the elevator, no English but what they were offering was easy to understand, and they were obviously sent there to wait for me, I just didn't have time that night, changed and came down 5 minutes later (driver waiting), gone they were. I left the next morning. The sauna had a separate entrance in the back, I should have noticed the neons outside but didn't. In the very early morning though, I notice a bunch of girls in elegant dresses leaving the sauna, among them one of the 2 chasing me at the reception. Overall very pretty from far, damn
