Staying in a 5 star hotel

So given I'll be on business, I'll be staying at one of the nicer 5 star hotels in Central later this week.  I know that the newbie guide generally states that the hotel staff looks the other way when bringing a WG back to the room, but anyone have issues at one of the nicer hotels.  The last time I stayed here, seemed like everyone knew my name on the first day there.  Just want to make sure I don't have any issues on the way to the room, via the lobby.

Thanks in advance.

They will probably ask the girl to sign in, but that's all.  It's for your protection.

I am assuming you are talking about "Central District" in HK ?  I never stayed at a 5 star hotel in HK. I don't have that kid of money since HK hotels are expensive.  Anyway, I stayed at a few 3-4 star and I didn't have to register my girlfriends in HK.  A few times we came back around 12 midnight and there were security guards in front, nothing happened.  We just walked passed them. If they did start asking questions, we had our luggages in the room and we knew each other.

On the other hand, there is no guaranties the security will NOT stop you and the girl for some questions. Sorry to inform you and I don't think that is what you want to hear.

If you are asking about China, it depends on which 5 star hotel.  Some have stict policies after 11pm for guess.

I've stayed at the Conrad every trip to HK and have walked the entry with a different girl almost every night of my trip.  All they did was hold the door open for me.

Conrad, Marriot and shangri la, if you want to avoid the walk of shame, I think you can access through the Pacific Place mall (I always get lots there but there are signs). Usually, the elevators are one floor below the lobby so you use your card and up you go, no lobby! Not sure there is not a guard and or the doors are not closed, amnot a regular there!

I suppose if she's not dressed like a slut and retains a decent look, hotel staff wont be able to tell if they are a guest or a WG.
It would be embarrassing for them if she did end up being a 'real girlfriend' of yours rather than a WG, the thing is not to look suspicious and hope she doesnt frequent those places where ppl recognise her.  The hotel has an image to uphold and as long as you do your part, they shouldnt stop you.

If you are still concerned, find some workaround to avoid the main lobby area, i go into hotels without being a guest and relax, enjoy the festive decoration etc, so i just walk in confidently.

Usually if you go into your room before around 10 pm, I don't think there is any problem in any 1 to 5 star hotel in HK and Macau. China now, because of
crackdown there might be some issues but normal the same holds.  The early the better.

It after hours, that the problem with bringing a girl back to your room.

It's after hours, that the problem with bringing a girl back to your room occurs.

Now twice when I was in China, a girl left my room. The time was around 2am. I got
a phone call from security in Mandarin.  First I didn't know what was going on because my Mandrain is limited.  Then I heard my girl talking on the phone and told me to say everything was OK.  I then said yes and OK.  I believe it's to check if the girl left with your permission and didn't steal anything while you were sleeping.

edit for typos in previous post.

There are little tricks that you can use if the hotel has a key card access for lifts

- get a second card for the lift and meet the girl outside to hand over card
- Arrange for the lady to call your room when she is near the lifts - Go down the lift and bring her up without leaving the lift
- Book a short time hotel if there are work colleagues around. They usually cost around 270.
- Request that the lady dresses discreetly
