Newbie headed to Macau, could use some friendly help

So, I have been reading alot on these forums the past week in preparation of vacationing in macau In January. After that I will head out to Bangkok (Which I've been to before and am comfortable with). I can't help but feel overwhelmed with all the information and I am still not fully understanding of everything so I have some questions if anyone can help me out. Sorry for being a newb at this but once I make it over there, I will definitely post reports of each chick. I've never been to china in my life, and the only time I've been out of the country was to Bangkok, and that was with someone who was from there so that person pretty much was able to show me the ropes. When I head to macau, I will be alone with no guidance, which is why I am asking these stupid questions, so please bear with me.

Questions:

1. So it seems like the saunas to visit are Darling 1, 18, Emperor and East? I plan on going for either 5days - 7 so I want to experience as much as I can (have a good bit of spending money too)
2. Hotels are confusing me, I read alot of good hotel recommendations but they seem to not be in the Macau area? and in order to get to the macau area I have to commute? I was wondering what are some actual good hotels in the Macau area that are at least 3 stars but only $100usd or less. (in fact, what's the Cheapest place to stay that isn't a shithole)
3. People have stated you can Sleep at the saunas so you don't have to get a hotel? but then what about all your stuff? (laptop, clothes, luggage, etc)
4. When I go into the sauna and strip and leave everything, what about my wallet, phone, and contents? How do I know all that stuff is safe?
5. I will be taking my unlocked Iphone 5, so when I go there, I plan on just using a cell service over there, is it easy to get a simcard and service over there quickly?
6. where do I convert my USD dollars at? I know in bangkok, apparently you didn't wanna do it at certain places cause they would rip u off?
7. should I just bring cash/use cash, or is using Credit card ok? (like for hotel purchases, food purchases, etc)
8. When taking taxis, is writing the address down in english and showing the taxi cab going to work? I know that use to work in Bangkok sometimes.
9. I don't quite fully understand http://mo.nightlife141.com/en/   is this like backpages or something but for Hong kong, etc? And also....what is LA buddies? what does LA mean? WHat is Beauty Call? and Xo? like what are the differences?

thanks for any help, and I know some of these questions might seem dumb, but the answers would be very very helpful.

Welcome to the forum. The first thing you want to do is read the Forum Guidelines to learn where you should be posting questions.  This section is for reports.

On to the answers...
2. Most of the hotels you can reserve online are going to be good enough. For your price range and location needs I would recommend Casa Real. Macau is very small, so if the hotel is not listed as being in Macau, then it is in China and you can't stay there.

3.  If you are carrying a suitcase, you don't want to sleep at the sauna.  Its really meant for people who are traveling verylight, or just don't want to get up and return to their hotel room.

4.  The lockers are very safe with electronic, double key locks. Don't worry. You can carry your phone, iPad, and charger with you. Wallets are not allowed into the lounge area and must be left in the locker.  You can go back later to your lockerif you need to get something.

5. Ther are lots of places to get SIM cards. I usually just use the guys on the street corners. It's safe and the same as stores. They will speak some English. Just show them your phone and be sure to say "Internet.". It should be about 100MO.

6.  Wherever you enter Macau will have places. Look at the exchange rates before you come.

7.  You can use your CC for most places including the hotel and saunas. Just change a little USD for food and taxis.

8. Ask the place you are leaving to write the name of the place you want to go in Chinese for you.  Remember, all these places are legal so there is no need for any embarrassment. Also, you will never see these people again, so who cares?  Some taxi drivers speak English. And most of the time you will walk.

9. Again, read the Forum Guidelines.

Enjoy and report!

THanks for the help, whoops, and Can a Mod please move this to the Questions and answers forums?

With that said.

Anyone have a good recommendation for a travel agency to go through for plane tickets? I read somewhere it's cheaper to go through a travel agent?

the forum guidelines doesn't go into detail with what is the difference between LA, beauty call, Xo, ETC

there is a link for it, but the link is dead.

Answer to No.1

refer to the google map link here
http://forum.sex141.com/eforum/viewthread.php?tid=45758

Since the quality of the gals ebbs and flows, it depends on the season and your tastes. The ones you listed are fine, in addition the more famous ones are
Rio (which is the most expensive) and FN (Familia Nobre).

On average be prepared to pay 2000HKD per punt on average.

Answer to No. 2

If you aren't willing to shell out 150-200 USD per hotel, you might not get a quality hotel and you might as well consider staying in the SN itself overnight. The SN usually have designated sleeping rooms (FN and Rio have nice clean but spartan rooms).

To the excellent answers already given, I would add the following:

A) Look at the "Macau Hunting Info" sticky thread at the top of the Macau section.

B) Rio Hotel is a little over your price range, but is very convenient, as is the Holiday Inn.

C) A week in Macau is a long time, although I have done it before. Hong Kong itself is very interesting, both culturally and as a punting ground. Perhaps a mixture of HK and Macau would be better than a whole week in Macau.

Other than that, I'd suggest reading at least a year's worth of Macau threads, because there are a lot of good tips there. But even if you don't, I think you're on the right track already.

I will move the thread to Questions and Answers.

It's really 2000HKD or MOP per sauna visit with one punt.  I you punt more than once per visit the average drops down some.

Also, staying overnight at the sauna can mean two things... one is getting a bunk in a room with 30-40 other guys.  The other is getting a private room with almost nothing inside except a bed.  In either case, you will not be allowed to bring your bags in.  Ask a manager for a private room as soon as you arrive, but it is based on availability, so your luck may vary.

If you are going to spend a few days here and a few days there, I would suggest finding a hotel either in Wan Chai (if you want to try the bar pick up scene) or on the Kowloon side in the corridor between Tsim Sha Tsui and Monk Kok (many many hotels in this corridor). You can base your choice on the reports in the forum, if you are planning to go to see some of the girls listed here.

However, if you choose to do Hong Kong Macau the way I sometimes have, I'd suggest staying at the Bauhinia Hotel in Sheung Wan in Hong Kong. My way of "doing" a Hong Kong and Macau trip is to bed down most nights at my hotel in Hong Kong. Then, each day, I make a decision as to whether this will be a Hong Kong day or a Macau day. If Hong Kong, I simply do whatever I've decided to do. If Macau, I leave the Bauhinia and walk the 200 meters to the Macau Ferry Terminal in the Shun Tak Center. There, I can buy sauna packages, then get on a ferry for the 1 hour ride to Macau. In Macau, I do my thing, then return by ferry to Hong Kong. Because of the free ferry ride that comes with a sauna package bought in Shun Tak, the ferry doesn't cost anything. And I find I like using the hour each way to think or day dream. To some, this might seem like a waste of time, but I find it works well for me. If I want to do 2 in a row in Macau, I can "camp out" at a sauna, or book a second hotel for that night -- wasteful, but convenient. That way, I have somewhere to take my take-out girls.

Still, if you are trying to cram in the maximum amount of punting, you won't want to do it my way. I don't even do it my way every time, but if I'm working in HK for a week, it's a great way to do it.

And a final note, if you want the maximum punts per dollar, you won't go to Macau at all. You'll stay in HK, where it's very inexpensive, or go to BKK instead, etc. etc.etc.

To me, the beauty of HK is that there is so much variety within reach (and I include Macau in that, since you can "do" Macau as a day trip with no problem, given the 24-hour-per-day ferry set-up).

Questions:

1. So it seems like the saunas to visit are Darling 1, 18, Emperor and East? I plan on going for either 5days - 7 so I want to experience as much as I can (have a good bit of spending money too)

Aside from the Saunas, you may wana check out the WGs at the old Casino Lisboa racetrack located at the basement of the casino hotel. They look gorgeous but expensive for quickie services.
Another are those WGs in between the street of The City of Dreams and The Venetian soliciting their services.

Use the online booking sites like booking.com and agoda.com to search for value for money hotels in Macau.
Prices get a lot more expensive during weekends (Thurs, Fri, Sat).
I suggest you stay 2 nights at the hotels in Macau City and the other 2 nights at hotels in Cotai.

It's not comfortable sleeping in saunas since you got cash to burn, better get a hotel room.
While in Saunas, they provide lockers to keep safe your personal belongings.
Your stuffs are always safe since it requires you plus the reception to open up your assigned locker using the electronic band they provide you.

5. I will be taking my unlocked Iphone 5, so when I go there, I plan on just using a cell service over there, is it easy to get a simcard and service over there quickly?

You can buy prepaid simcards at the convenience stores.

6. where do I convert my USD dollars at? I know in bangkok, apparently you didn't wanna do it at certain places cause they would rip u off
7. should I just bring cash/use cash, or is using Credit card ok? (like for hotel purchases, food purchases, etc)

There are many money changers along the streets of Macau though you can have your US$ changed at the airport.
Of course it's better you have lots of cash on hand with a credit for emergency use.

8. When taking taxis, is writing the address down in english and showing the taxi cab going to work? I know that use to work in Bangkok sometimes.

Macau will be more enjoyable by feet since those Saunas are almost near one another and Macau has many free shuttle rides provided by various Casino Hotels to attend to many tourists.

If you plan a 7 days tour, better take a side trip to Hong Kong as Macau will be very expensive to stay long and enjoy to the max.
Another thing is you may be tempted to gambling which may also ruin your stay.
GoodLuck!

Potentially question that will make me a dumb @ss noob...:

Do the taxis accept HKD? How about the Saunas?

I know the coupons from Shun tak but most likely I'll hit the casinos so the return ticket from Taipa will be free. Furthermore I might do the HG or wechat girls instead of  saunas or both, so I'd rather not commit to the saunas by buying the coupons ahead of time.

Thanks.

HK$ is very much accepted in Macau.
It's better to convert your US$ to HK$ and spend it in Macau.
Speaking of taxi, from the Venetian to the airport cost me 27 HK$ (I missed the free shuttle from the Venetian goin to the airport) while from the City of Dreams in Cotai to MetroPark Hotel in Macau cost me 60 HK$ (It's midnight and free shuttles from the Casino Hotels in Cotai had already made their last trip).
Those were the only two instances i took taxi while in Macau.

Taking a side trip via ferry from Macau to Hong Kong will be a much better experience.
Aside from the Hotel Girls, which maybe hard to contact if you cant communicate well with the Agents, there's the Walk Ups where you can visit certain buildings (I suggest FUJI Bldg in Causeway Bay with 22 floors of Walk Up WGs to choose from) with WGs waiting for clients in their rooms and the bar scenes in Wan Chai if you love to drink and hang out late at night.
