Report says the police arrested 78 sex workers, does that mean it had 78 sex workers working under the site's management on its payroll? That would be stupid as it is illegal. Obtaining advertising fees given via free will by sex workers is ok, but living off the girls' work is a no-no. Hopefully this is not the case and the site become fully active once again.

But the updating of the forum was probably done by people in HK working on computers in HK connecting with servers outside HK. That is why when the raid took place and the operators and their computers were arrested, the updating of the site stopped. Living on the avails of prostitution; and 2.) Money laundering. Both of these being illegal if it wasn't obvious. Of particular note from the articles: QUOTE: Profits from the ads were deposited into "puppet" bank accounts and transferred to other accounts to be laundered. It is believed that Chan's wife ran a financial company, whose debtors who could not pay would provide their bank accounts as part of the laundering procedure. and QUOTE: The syndicate used more than 100 bank accounts to launder illegal proceeds, according to police. From the sounds of it it looks like the police don't care about the punters.

Rj1972   6-12-2013 16:12   Acceptance   +1   Hosted in US Yes, I also believe the machines are hosted in the USA.  Since sex141 was raided a few days,  I would guess the site might be up for another 30 - 40 days but I hope I am wrong.  Why 30 to 40 days,  that is when the hosting facility or administrators will be asking for money.  After 30 - 40 days, the hosting facility or administrators will shut them down also.  Bills are usually paid monthly.  Most servers are self running or fault tolerant if they designed the servers and network right. Anybody can force the actual servers to go down from anywhere in the world.  All one needs is one to two administrator or root password.
