I do get more self conscious when the trains are crowded. There were a few occasions when I reach for my back pocket and my elbow brushes against a lady's side or even boobs. I apologise profusely and it was clearly accidental. Equally, there were times when a lady swings her hand and hits LB. I once exited the train reached back for my gf's hand only to almost grab a lady's inner thigh!
Thanks goodness she didn't make a big fuss about it. My gf was beside her and she could see that it was also a mistake. Also, in the crowded HK lifts, I normally will place my hands in front (like footballers) and shield myself from the lady in front. I'm not particularly sure which is worse, she backing into my LB or my arms. Sure there are nice girls I'd love to be 'innocently' pressed upon by her but it's not worth it.
While starting this thread I started to wonder how could my staff detain the molester and she said all she did was grab onto his t-shirt and told him that she is calling the police. I asked why didn't he run, he could easily had broken free. However, she said that in HK, once a lady screams 'molest or Fei li', most guys along the streets will kick in and jump the perpetrator. I further asked what if there was a misunderstanding... she said that when she made the police report, they have establish protocols to determine if the incident was accidental or intentional. Apparently body language places a very big part and also evidence, witnesses, track record, how you answer the polices' questions, etc. Regardless, she spent almost 6 hrs at the police station even though she had CCTV and video evidence of subsequent actions by that man. Seems like it is quite common in the highly stressed and crowded HK. Police were rather professional.
