Usually they handle all of the details in getting the proper local documents necessary. One company I've used in the past is china pro visa or something similar.  Google it. Also when did the laws change?

However, I have an address in Shenzhen which may have an effect. I am aware of a friend from Canada who tried to apply for a visa, and was told he needs an invitation. So as always with things in China, the invitation letter requirement is 'theoretical'. fucking hate how they toss that word around with laws. "in theory... you're right, the law is this".

Just need to fill out the form. They are the most reasonable price agent also. You'd have to send it to LA though.

They may be quite willing to get you your visa without requiring a 'plane ticket to China'. The thing with the Chinese embassies around the world, they will do everything by the 'book'. Agencies sure will cost you more money but they are also 'flexible'. In the HK official China visa office, multiple entry business visa applicants have to submit a business letter from a China company, but at the HK agent I go to, I never had to show a business letter and always got my 6 month multiple visa. Oh btw, though HK is part of China, HK does not count as part of China when it comes to meeting the 'plane ticket to China' requirement. I know because I asked once at a Chinese consulate in the USA.

They have many different branches in Hong Kong and get your Visa done efficiently. I tried to apply for a Multi-Entry 12 Months on a British Passport and they told me I need to go back to England to do it then I tried to apply for a Multi-Entry 12 Months on a Canadian Passport and they said I needed a Hotel and Plane Ticket. I showed them my Employment Papers which stated I worked in Hong Kong but that didn't suffice. I ended up going to CTS and getting a 6 Month Multi-Entry; I filled out the form only and within a few days I was set. No questions asked. I'll be in Shanghai for two nights next week using the new 72 hour tourist visa.  It is a little scary - the visa website says that you are given it on arrival.  They said that you should tell the airline ahead of time. I called China Eastern and they said that yes, there is no problem with the 72 hour visa.  But they don't need to do anything - just show up with the tickets. ...Really don't want to hang out in an airport for two days.  No red rope in an airport.

I'm a US passport holder.  My one year multi just ran out and I just applied for a 1 year multi but was told by my agency that I could at best expect a 6 month multi or only be given a 6 month double.  I refused the 6 month double entry out of hand but I guess would do the 6 month multi entry.   Would like to know what other people have been experiencing.
