Just a "heads up "

In the South China Morning Post  today ....

The people responsible for the BEST 161 site have been  prosecuted and found guilty of "conspiring to live off the earnings of prostitutes "

Not only the people organising the site , but the photographers as well !!

It also says , it brings in to question other people/workers ...

E.G. if a builder renovates a flat , knowing it will be used by a prostitute then he could also be liable to prosecution  for living off immoral earnings !

Whoa ! heavy stuff .....

It reported that the girls paid $hk 6000/month ......and the site earns approx $hk 90,000 / 100,000 per month.

Have to say I miss the very high quality presentation of 161 and the usually high standard girls...

It also makes me  wonder how long our beloved 141 can survive ?

Why have Best 161, lady 168 etc been shut down , when sex 141 ,  miss 148  and man 169 are able to continue operating in exactly the same manner ?

Is someone receiving  a"graft " to allow them to continue operating ?

Hmmmm ! DOES make me wonder !

Let,s hope the authorities don,t come after 141 etc , now they have got a result on Best 161 and Lady168....

Be such a shame to lose them....

Good question.  It seemed to me that 161 and 141 were the two sites that were most popular...and going head to head.  Maybe "someone" wanted the other gone...and found a way to do it.  

Don't know where I read/heard this, and don't know if it matters, but 141 is hosted/registered in the U.S. or outside of H.K. so it's hard for the police to act out of their jurisdiction.  How bout the other sites?  Or could it be that 161 was the victim of an arbitrary crack down, the police chose the biggest site to punish as a warning to others.

If you read the disclaimer on the signing-on page, it says:

I think the legal position is that 141 gets no payment from the girls and all income is from other forms of advertising.

As I recall, Best161 and 141 were closed down at the same time. After a few months, 141 was able to re-open
but Best161 never did. Maybe 141 just had better lawyers.    Best161 was a very good site with great
girls and a lot of search features that 141 doesn't have.

I think off-shore registration is probably the key factor protecting this site (if it is, in fact, legally registered off-shore.)

Many torrent sites avoid prosecution by operating from locations where file downloading is not illegal.

But it is interesting to note that although immediately after the recent murders, the police said they were going to take steps to increase protection of the girls, and encourage the girls to communicate any problems to the police, it seems the only thing the police intend to do is take advantage of ambiguities in the prostitution laws to shut down the industry.

But I did talk to alot of WG's lots and lots of them , although we of course do not know how biased or not the WGs are (as per the titanic thread) it seemed a common theme that people who knew WGs were erm WGs tended to exploit them ie over charge for stuff, for extra cover of the 'risk' associated with doing work for WG's.

Sort of like taxi drivers in a level 8 storm who charge you 400% the going rate TBH , I expect this world to be no different.

I don't think that the ambiguities in the prostitution laws to shut down the industry is that simple...

In fact that was the English law and the law to protect the ladies throughout... look at the English law recently passed in UK...

It was flexible until some voice in the society come up and push for the freedom to consent of sex for adults and or the side that bring up the whoe moral issues behind it.

The question really is that there have to have a line drawn between 1 floor 1 girl policy... and it is I think the basic and prostitution should not be seen as a crime.

US is in one extreme where prostitution is illegal to Australia where prostitution is legal.

It is just two different way of viewing the same issue...

But I would not put the blame on the law enforcement, of which I know that most of them like us are customers to those working girls... and as long as they do not take advantage of their position at work to hurt these girls, there is no reason to point our finger at them..

Do you realize how much these working girls are making?

I bet you do not make as much money as they do...

What I think the key is the background of these site... and I think if the tie to the triad is apparent there should be immediate action...

But I think the law enforcement will never be able to shut down all of them... 'spring wind blow will grow'...

The fact that setting up a site is not really that much of work and it is more an issue to market your service to those working girls and how the agent apporach them... those are the details of the sales that we do not have the full picture....

But over time, I think there would be different way...

I think the craigslist way will flourish....

Soon than later there would be a chinese craigslist and all these sites will be in great danger of losing to the free sites...

And the forum will remain... forever... long live the ....King 141 King I meant.

I think it's all about money--168 and lady probably got too big and took business from the newspapers that run ads for wg's
