Yes, to the logical (i.e. masculine) mind, buying just exactly the right perfume for ourselves is just the same as receiving a gift, and may even be better if we're fussy.
But to the female mind, it is utterly and completely different.
Why? Don't know. Don't ask me why. Doesn't make sense to me, probably because I received a Y chromosome way way back.
But it's different. Which means, try giving money, and see the outcome. Then try giving a gift at about the same cost as the money, and see the outcome.
Girls like gifts, and respond to them disproportionately enthusiastically.
A bit like a female penguin receiving a pebble from a male penguin I guess ... it's not about the pebble, it's about the giving ... but there I go again ... trying to explain the unexplainable
