The link above answered many, but I have a few of my own.

1) I won't be bringing my laptop. I have a web-capable phone but it's a mainland one that will stop working once in HK. Is there any cyber/web cafe where I can safely browse s141 to check out the ladies? Will my phone be able to browse s141?

2) Assuming that I cannot do the above, I am making a list and getting photos and putting them on an SD chip to bring. I will have addresses, phone numbers and names.

3) I speak no Mandarin or Chinese. What are a very few phrases to know when I call the agent to make an appointment for a favorite?

4) How far in advance should I call? The day before? Or is first thing in the mourning at 1100 ok for booking that day?

5) Walk-ups. I have several addresses of ones that I like. Are there more WG's in a building than what is listed here? For instance, if I knock on a door that isn't listed as having a s141 advertised here, will I be knocking on someone's home or will it be a WG who did not advertise?

Do the walkups have elevators or by the very name does this mean that Fuji Bldg in Causeway Bay has 12 floors of stairs only and no elevator?

6) Phone issues. The last time in HK I bought a chip at the 711 but it stopped working almost immediately and I couldn't figure out how to add minutes. My mobile is dual SIM. Where is a place to tank these up that is idiot proof for someone like myself with a thick head about such things?

Some answers after my trip last week:

1) Near TST there are a few, not many, Wang Bars or Net Cafes. The most visible one is on the 1st floor (2nd floor to Americans) directly across from Hari's above the lobby of the Mile Holiday Inn. 5 HKD to hop on for a few moments, but they monitor screens with cameras everywhere so not punter friendly. Another was near Observatory Row, that one was more private but 141 did not load.

All are cheap - 5 to 20 HKD for 1/2 hour.

2) Lists of prospects save time and putting the info on your phone won't get one in trouble. No one looks at it when passing customs/immigration. Just don't browse your photos whilst on the MTR.

3) The girls speak very little Cantonese and even less English. Most don't adhere to their call first policy and want the business so just knock, but the ones who do have a handler, friend, spotter or provider who speaks barely enough English to get by. Barely. Keep it simple and speak slowly. The girls speak no English in truth. Speak Mandarin or use body language. All of my conversations were in Mandarin.

4) Call 20 minutes ahead of time, if that. No worries. Advance booking not needed. If she is busy wait until the current punter finishes and ring her up again.

5) There are several times (3 or 4X) more girls in WU's than listed. Some have 'Sex141' on a card on their door. Some do not. Pink paper, red ink. So with the red lights it's difficult to read what they wrote - usually their cup size and 2 or 3 signs in Chinese.

The Red Light Effect will quickly tell you which floors, groups of flats, and individual flats, are open. The nice doors with regular lighting are the floors with normal apartments. Obviously skip those and move to the next floor. Most of these buildings are tiny, but tall. So there will be 2 to 4 flats on a floor at most, all huddled in one very small common foyer, with 6 webcams everywhere outside the rooms from every angle with monitors in all of the girls rooms.

WU's have elevators and like many narrow buildings in HK, one bank is for even floors, another for the odd floors. You will run into other punters and all of them are very quiet, head down eyes on the floor types.

6) Phone Issues. The same. Still could not get roaming to work though I did get local voice and text to work. The solution, and other nations are similar, seems to be to buy a throw-away phone and SIM at the same time so that compatibility issues are eliminated. Unlocked phones seem to always have issues.

I can't comment much for the rest of them, but on point 3, on the times I've been, I have found communication to be a bit of a challenge, since I don't speak canto or mandarin. Hand gestures are the best way, since I find even knowing certain phrases, my pronounciation mangles it so badly that too much time is spent trying to figure out what we're talking about!
