Few weeks back read a thread, that was translated from a chinese forum, if I remembered right.
Anyways, it was a story about Meow & ChoChet, and the true story he shared is real touching.

I then realized that many new members in this forum, would probably never end up reading that, because the thread was so old.
Of course, there probably are more hardcore members, who tries read every single thread in this forum, but chances are that most of you
haven't read some of the good classic stuff.

I encourage other members old & new to put up some threads that they think are classics, and that every member should read it.
This will help so many members, especially new members. I know if I from the beginning have read some good classic threads, it would've
encouraged me to share more as well.

Yeah, there are many classic stories that just get lost.  Impossible not to in the format we have on this forum.  

Clearly you can't do "stickies" for every great post. So  this might be the trick - a sticky with links to all the great threads?  Of course, WHO decides what's "great" or not???

But I'm sure if some remember some details or a name from that special thread he read 4months back, will be able to
use the search function, and try to find that thread.

A sticky to great threads would be nice. Voting system for "great" or "not great" ?

Anyway, main point here is to bring out some good threads, that helps and motivate members (like me) ,
after reading it.

Just read the story on Meow and ChoChet. OMG, this is the first time I've been so fixated at reading a story on a forum. A great tale indeed, almost impossible to believe. Thanks for bringing up that thread. It was really a good read!

Depending on the age of the forum, it is difficult to keep ALL of this kind of thread alive.

EDIT: I had just made a suggestion on how to keep this kind of old thread visible to new users. Hope this could help improve this forum.

Yes, the Meow and Chochet tale is definitely a must-read for any new/exisiting bro's who haven't read it before.
Was rather surprised (and a bit disappointed to be honest) that the second link was to my post about my first trip to DG, hahaha. I guess I was hoping for something a bit more exciting from another bro

What makes the above thread great:

- was written shortly after one of my own guides regarding punting options in Shanghai. I didn't really have much info on apartment girls though, but bro slysh took a HUGE one for the team. Great example of 'cause & effect' in the forum!!

- very unique report in that it is hardly (if ever) reported on. added a great source of info in the Mainland section

- the BALLS that slysh must have. I fully expected the first report regarding an apartment girl would be from someone with a Chinese background, simply because this option isn't the most readily accessible for foreigners. From what I understand, slysh isn't any sort of asian ethnicity and has a limited command of mando?

- the first punt was a failure, but rather than abandoning it all together after a bad experience, follows through with another punt.

- the report itself is quality. descriptive, informative, pictures, etc.

this thread is a great read, lot's of info and after this i really wanted to explore China, particularly the southern part - and now, I'm almost an expert myself! (actually, still a looooooooooooooooong way to go LOL!)

It would be pretty easy to have a "reports of distinction" sticky where members can report posts as very noteworthy and the links to these threads are kept in a sticky for whatever section the report was in...

similar to how the Mainland section has a guide to Dongguan~

Hate to point this out - but IMHO, this thread will eventually also go the way of most other threads here:- buried to the back pages and forgotten.

So perhaps post such pointers in the Idle Chat thread - like a lot of guys and I already do?

I remember a story (probably fictional) about this guy who met a mainland girl in Hong Kong.  She suddenly left and he goes to China trying to find her and he gets entangled with triads.

Truthfully, I just wanted to give members an opportunity to read some of the old classics that
"old timers" on this forum has read. Me myself included hoped to read more of these classics.

IDLE chat thread has a lot of these too, but searching for them are so much harder, so I thought
a thread like this, would not only be great, but also convenient.

But it's ok. Here's to hoping we get more more and more good reports old/new.
