#1 Post at 24-10-2011 20:47  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L looking to buy new camera~ i'm using d5000 at the moment. I am looking at using D3X or D700. Don't really need video, just want good shots. Also wanting to buy a good zoom lens, I'm using the bundle zoom lens at the moment, looking at the 18~200mm zoom lens atm. I don't really have a budget, just as long as its not something ridiculous like 5000 dollars or something like that. looking at other brands also , leica, sony, canon etc.. the x100 really caught my eye looks neat chhers [ Last edited by  robotto at 24-10-2011 20:59 ]

#6 Post at 25-10-2011 12:44  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L I have the D700 with 3 lenses - 14-24MM, 24-70MM and the 70-200MM, and this combination rocks, it takes incredibly sharp pictures and high iso. So if you are looking to get the best gears, that's it. I was looking at the D3X, it is just a bit much, it is 4 times the price of the D700 and it is very bulking to carry around, for the money of D3X, just buy the set up like I have.

With your budget, I would go for the canon mark III 5d as it is a full frame camera with a great magnesium alloy feel and will not be obsolete for many years to come.
