But seriously now, I hate Cathay's new seats. They don't actually recline whereas the seat cushion just slides out in front of you so your back lays resting at an uncomfortable arch. I don't know if CX's choice of seats was based on pay back commissions (to Cathay) per nomination of seat manufacturer or - those who chose them were plain idiots with no consideration for cattle class pax

They are changing the economy seats to something different.  There has been a lot of bad feedback on that seat. That seat type doesn't go away though.  I think it is going to be put on many ANA All Nippon Airways planes.
