Like I said, its all about context.
In Cali, where I went to school, referring to someone as a "bro" was definitely derogatory. Yet you can still call your good friends bros...
As for wg... lets call a spade a spade, a working girl is a synonym for a prostitute, now I understand that we on this board enjoy and appreciate our service providers, however, the rest of the societies we live in clearly do not regard them with as much esteem as we do here.
I suppose I have no room to talk when it comes to racial epithets, being a caucasian male... but living in China, I constantly get referred to as Loawai or Gweilo (sp?). Is it derogatory? Nope, its the context, some people dont know that the "proper" term is foreign country person... but you have to take what they say in context, sometimes they do mean it in a derogatory fashion... which is when you get to teach the mainlander how to properly speak putonghua... or not
anyway, no offense intended, just taking the piss and trying to get over my ship being sunk ...
