The good news is I have a friend to stay with in HK.

The bad news is they live in Fanling. It seems far away from most of the action.

Right now there is just one gal in the DB in the Po Wah Bldg and after some searching there is not a lot of info on that area or building on the forums (unless I just missed it)

Has anyone here been to the Po Wah Bldg? Is there only one room with a 141 walk up? Are there any other places to check out in the area?

If that does not work out I know Sheung Shui an Tai Po are not too far away. There seem to be a better selection over there. I need to figure out how the bus system works.

With the money saved from not having to stay at a hotel, you can afford to take taxis to Tai Po and Sheung Shui which are close by then farther onto Tsuen Wan and Yuen Long.

If you have time and want to save money, take the mtr. With the mtr you will have access to all the goody places of HK. Mongkok will be about 30 mins from Fanling via mtr.

Don't take the buses unless someone goes with you as it is not easy to find bus stops.

The MTR is so convenient, I'm not sure why you'd feel restricted to monger in Fanling.

Even if you're stuck near Fanling, there's no need to take a bus to Sheung Shui, where there's lots of gals.  Try to figure out the nearest MTR station to where you live in Fanling.  If it's too far to walk, then a taxi can take you there.  I guarantee your friend knows where the MTR station for Fanling is.

I've mongereed in Sheung Shui before.  The selection is fantastic, but most girls don't advertise.  The Sheung Shui playground is a 15 minute walk from the MTR station.  You can walk around randomly to find 141s.  They are only advertised by a pink neon strip at the ground floor doorways.

The train from Fanling is excellent, it gets you to Mong Kok or TST almost directly. It takes 20 mins an is dirt cheap.

As the bros say, the KCR (train system) is excellent, and links Fanling to Sheung Shui and Tai Po - both are small enough for you to walk around with a printout from Google Maps.  Reports are mixed, both good and bad, which means you can find real gems if you knock on more than one door.  

And going from there to Shatin is fast - maybe 15 minutes - there are some HGs there, which is a relatively new development, so they'll appreciate your support

And all the way into Mong Kok or TST is more like 30 minutes, Wanchai another 10 minutes or so, still not exactly a barrier to your ambitions

Even if you stay out late in Wanchai and miss the last train home, you can either
   party through the night (the first train will be around 5am),
   stay all night at Hourly hotel for HK$450 or so after midnight (about the same as drinking all night), or
   a taxi back to Fanling is probably going to set you back around HK$300
also not a killer if you're dropping $1k on a punt ...

What is an HG? It is not in the "list of terms and acronyms".

I am going to guess "Hotel Girl". Someone should add that to the list.

Dang - I guess Shatin must be an on-again-off-again thing - still worth you keeping an eye open for it, you may find it's back on the db when you arrive.  

Frankly, even if you find what you want in Tai Po (and you may well), you should definitely include a visit to TST/MK and WanChai, just for completeness!

Of course, I plan to visit many areas in HK, and I am here for more then just the WGs.

I read great things about this 8 MK and 37D place. I have been lurking on the board for awhile.

To be honest you shouldn't need to worry about travelling around hong kong it's very safe unlike china, but my good advice for u is that when u arrive at the HK airport there are travelling guides etc and within it it gives u maps and bus numbers etc also there may not be much info in fanling here on this site but if u walk around the town/city of fanling u should see the sort of same apartment entrance as other places like MK, YL or TST like I said there are planet of taxi and other transport so u won't get lost if that's what's you're worried about

I know this is an old post, but I find myself in the exact same position. Did u ever try the one in fanling?
