Tips for Expense Account Decorum?

Say you've got a proper (read: sizeable) expense account and you are clearly allowed to spend it entertaining important persons with hookers and blo   BUT you'd prefer to NOT have the granny who runs accounting giving you the evil eye.  Did I say 'granny?'  Oh yeah, and she goes to church a lot too.

Anyway, you've got this big-ass charge card burning a whole in your pocket and permission to entertain with it in the best HK tradition.  How do you cover your tracks properly?

1.  Pay for everything in cash.  Always preferred of course, but not always possible, and a receipt must be turned in anyway.

2.  Charge at places that bill discretely.

TT's tail of the Pussycat Club: http://forum.sex141.com/eforum/viewthread.php?tid=28339&extra=page%3D1  got me thinking, just what shows up on your corporate card when you use it in such establishments.

Likewise, do the Saunas all bill discretely?  Or do only some of them?

How do the big spenders among us manage this?

I didn't do it.  Really I didn't.

Well, I also have an expense account to cover anything that's required to get the job done - LEGALLY!

I don't know if things are different here, but..
getting fired for paying hookers on the company dime aint my idea of an exit strategy.   I keep work and play as distant as possible.  Two different worlds in every respect.

That said, I do respect the fact that things are different here, and am curious to learn the tricks myself. Wink Wink.

obviously depends on how careful your company's accounting dept. is.

Yes, first question...is it worth potentially losing your job over?

-I would really avoid using a corporate card.
-Use personal cc or
-pay cash, get a receipt.

All has risks bc of a paper trail.  Not sure if it exists in HK. The best bet is have some legit business that fronts and brings the entertainment to you with booze & maybe girls.

Hold on fellas!  I'm completely not at risk for entertaining VIPs Hong Kong style.  No risk of job loss at all, zip, nada.   I just don't want the prudes in accounting blabbing that I get blowjobs with my martini while entertaining.

So it's really just about keeping up appearances.

I didn't do it.  Really I didn't.

That's cool Butler Bro.  Can I ask how you know you are safe from being fired?  Even though I am very senior in my company they would absolutely take action if they discovered I was paying WGs with company money (likely a warning at first, but if I did it again...).  This might be one of them "turn a blind eye" issues for your company, but if you get caught they might have to act.  Kind of the way corruption is done in a lot places:  everyone knows about it and looks the other way, but when someone actually gets caught they HAVE to feign complete shock and outrage and fire his ass.

I'm just saying....

For me, having my staff know about my hobby would be damaging and make my job harder.  It would also make company functions where my SO attends nerve-wracking.  I absolutely seperate my play from my work.

for me it was easy, I don't live in HK so no one would know what kind of place I visit. I mean if it said "Wan Chai Brothel Ltd" on the receipt that would be a problem but "Pussy Cat Club"... no big deal. After all... I was just entertaining a client.

In terms of what shows up on the card? I can't remember but it was nothing that would cause me a problem.

Seriously though, if you are looking for this kind of fun (drinking with ladies, mates and "extras"), don't do Velvet Curtain Bars in HK, go to a KTV in China.

In HK, a lot of entertainment establishments don't have their business name on the credit card slip,
some have their holding comapny's name and some for what ever the reason a completely different name. So if you don't want your company nanny to know where you've been just ask the establishment what name appears on the credit card slip !
