Spartacus: Blood and Sand starts out slow during the first few episodes, but picks REALLY picks up at the end.  Especially the season finale.  It's a shame that the lead actor got cancer   The recently announced his replacement and season 2 is scheduled for sometime in 2012. Gods of the Arena is pretty good too because it goes into how Crixus became the Champion of Capua and stuff.   I 2nd the recommendation.
