The 10 Airlines With The Hottest Cabin Crews


A poll this month at London's Business Travel & Meetings Show has scandalized the airline industry.

1,000 business travelers were asked what airline had the most attractive cabin crew. Although stewardesses used to be hired based on looks, of course this practice has changed in recent years. Nonetheless, airlines like Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic play on sex appeal in their ads.

And the winner of the poll was: Virgin Atlantic with 53% of votes. Singapore Airlines ranked second with 18%. Etihard ranked third with 12%.

Singapore every time. In Asia you can still hire based on looks and not promote based on experience.

Rightly or wrongly it still means you get some decent totti on board asian flights.  Certainly not the case on US or European airlines.

Shame 'Hooters' don't still operate any airline

I think over the years, Singapore Airlines air hostess standards have dropped.
Of course then again, I must be upset and biased as I tried doing the old "how do you fasten seatbelt" on a Singaporea Airline Air hostess.

You hope they come by and help you fasten the seatbelt etc etc unfortunately for me the  Airhostess got an air steward to assist :-P

i agree that polls can be skewed.

remember beauty is always eye of the beholders.  the hot asians in america may not be labeled as hot in asian culture.

hooter did have an airline a few years back in the US.

but they folded it in since it wasnt making any money.    But they did wear the hooters outfits on board.    Mostly flights into and out of Vegas.

The main airlines I use are Virgin, Cathay and British Airways and I would rate them as follows:

1. Virgin
2. Cathay
3. British Airways

I traveled with Oasis, back before they went bust, and they were pretty hot too. To be honest, I was slightly disappointed with Cathay, both in service and eye candy, as they have a big reputation and are supposed to be the dogs bollocks.

Singapore Airlines girls are nice looking but one bad thing is that they are mostly very flat chested. They are required to wear push up bras as part of their uniform. I went out with an SQ stewardess once and she told me that some of the really flat girls even wear those bras that have relatively hard exterior shell so that they can prop up their uniform at the chest area. She told me that it's very common amongst the girls there.

Another thing about Singapore Airlines is that they don't hire Caucasians. They hire Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Indonesian, etc as their crew but not Caucasians. Dont' suppose you can get away with that in the States.

Singapore Airlines quality has dropped quite a bit in the last decade or so.

Singapore and cathay pacific have good looking girls but every one have slim body. Probably they have to change their outfit. And lufthansa all the cabin crew I seen so far will be above 40+  I wonder how it came in this list.

Airasia? Firefly girls are quite hot as well IMO.

I fly Singapore Airlines a lot. The quality of the girls has gone down somewhat but this by intention; in the past, the girls were so hot that they often got married almost immediately, causing high turnover and training costs. SQ also has quotas per country (so they have balanced language skills) so getting a job is actually very competitive.

When I lived in Korea, I had a girlfriend who wanted to be a flight attendant; she was from one of the better universities and wanted to travel, there are not a lot of good professional opportunities for women in Korea (thus the quality in room salons). At the time, SQ did not need any Korean speakers so they were not accepting any Koreans.

I have chatted with a number of flight attendants on SQ; they are educated and tend to like their jobs.

I have not flown Virgin, so I cannot say. The US airlines are unionized and positions are granted on the basis of seniority. Consequently, the more 'desirable' routes are front cabins on intercontinental flights, leading to what are usually quite old crews. Most are professional and helpful enough but definitely not enticing. The short domestic routes are tough (much like what Dragonair crews go through), there can be 4 or 5 flights in a day with rapid turnaround. That is not an easy job.

For other Asian airlines, I fly Cathay a lot and find the quality extremely mixed. Dragonair is better. Asiana is quite good, better than Korean Airlines. I have not been impressed by any mainland airline. JAL and ANA are mixed and I found that a bit disappointing. Thai is nothing to write home about.

Finally, for Emirates, they have a fairly competitive hiring process so aren't bad but nowhere near SQ from my experience.

In summary, top airlines in my view:

1) Singapore
2) Asiana
3) Dragonair

The good old days of flying are gone. Gone are the days where being a "stewardess" is highly sought after occupation. Many airlines these days just pack you in like sardines.  I hope SQ will stay there. At least until my time on earth is gone.
