Deadly debate: Star Wars vs Star Trek

ya know i watched a thing on hbo called trekkies and it reminded me of a conversation i had with a group of ppl about star trek. then i said gee i wonder if there was a war between the star war forces vs the star trek races who would win. i started to laugh my ass off when my friend gino said i'm shocked no one has gotten shot over this because there are crazy ppl who are really jacked up about star wars or they are really jacked up about star trek. the question is if there was a war between these two iconic movie series who would win. i mean one guy said the klingons would kick everyone's ass. but then one guy said they have the force in star wars. another guy said star trek had teleporting devices. another guy said well star wars had the huge at ats. so please debate but don't get into fist fight over this let's be civil !

Chewbacca would smash Captain Kirk's ass!

I'm just kidding.  I don't fucking care about Star Wars or Star Trek.  The whole argument between sci-fi geeky fan boys over who would win in a fight is pointless...because in this discussion, there are no winners...only losers .  So captaincaveman, I would just LMFAO too if I heard people arguing about this!

it's a funny argument but i'm serious there are people who i could easily envision who live by the sword when it comes to this stuff. i remember when i was playing the board game axis and allies this dude eric said hey guys check it out i bought a gun. he pulls out this gun. i'm like holy shit someone is gonna get shot tonight by accident. it just takes one nut to crack that's all for dumb shit to happen

I like Kirk, a man's man... always gets the chicks, not afraid to put himself on the line for something he believes in.

Ok, I think the question is outdated though - star strek vs star wars was more for the 90s. Now we've got Battlestar Galactica, and don't forget the stargate franchise (sg1, atlantis, universe). Although only SG1 was worth watching in my opinion. And the cult classic of Firefly! It's all the same circle of nerds and genre.

So its more like Star Trek vs Star Wars vs Battlestar G vs Stargate vs Firefly.

I like firefly the most!

Star Trek... Star Wars.... The Force... Klingons...

I agree, this is a dumb thing to argue about.

Everyone knows that Doctor Who and the Time Lords would kick everyones asses!

On a serious note though, this is no different to the millions of footy fans who support them team with a passion, yelling, screaming and starting fights with opposition fans. It's just a different topic to get passionate about. I haven't heard about many riots at Sci Fi conventions, but at soccer games... I know which crowd I'm more worried about.

I always get a laugh when some fat footy fan who couldn't walk a length of the pitch without stopping to catch their breath says things like, "We're going to win on the weekend." Maybe that's just my strange sense of humour...

I always thought william shatner was an okay actor. trust me i've seen much worse. i think shatner was hilarious when he did commercials for an internet company i forget the company maybe it was price line. com. i think i'm not a 100 percent on that. with the acting a sci fi movie that i thought was great but had really bad acting worse than 80's and 90's porn acting was starship troopers. oh man did some of those kids need acting lessons and where are they now? the debate of this is funny and i got a good laugh out of it but then like sirtiger said some ppl just love the sake of arguing

i wonder what ever happened to carrie fisher now a days. back then when she first came out in the gold clad bikini the theater was dead silent. everyone was to themselves wow. kind of like sharon stone in basic instinct. back then that was really consider over the top for sci fi. if you read in wiki she was addicted to coke. princess lay me you were a wild one. but if she gets caught she can be like paris hilton and say she thought it was bubble gum

well, im biased since ive only watched star wars, so i like it very much.

but in truth, i don't know why ST and SW have to be always compared to each other, both are great in their own aspects and characters & story lines. the debate on which is better is just fgoing to be never-ever-ending.

i think star trek will come up with something new but hopefully it will not be lame. if you get a chance or if you are bored watch some of their old stuff. i'm sure you can find it some where. i think the best series was the next generation and the film i enjoyed the most was star trek 4 the voyage home cause it was the funniest. so i wonder if someone disagrees with me will i get attacked for this?

I thought Star Wars took place in the Earth Humans' distant past in another galaxy and that Star Trek takes place in the future.

If they were to meet because of some time warp the deciding battle would be a fist-fight between Hans Solo and Capt Kirk as they fight to see who gets Leia to be his SO. It will be just like all those classic literary wars (Trojan War...) where countries/worlds/galaxies fight over just 1 girl.

But in the end Kirk will win because he has proven his skills over and over.

The original Star Trek created by Gene Rodenberry was very well written. Rodenberry had NASA scientists as consultants to make sure the technical aspect of the story made sense. There was even a book entitled "the Physics of Star Trek" which is excellent reading. It's about Einstein's Theory of Relativity, the Clock Paradox as well as exhibiting some examples of String Theory. With Star Wars, it's just all a story with an implausible take on actual science.

that is very true. i think i saw specials on the tlc or discovery called like the science of star wars or star trek. it would be amazing to see technology like that one day become a reality. in the future i think star wars is done as a movie series. i don't know maybe some idiot will try to do a remake like they remake so many movies which i thought were shit on a stick. examples the a-team, the karate kid, and so many other i could list but don't want to. i think star trek films are on the rise. the most recent one was pretty good. i enjoyed watching it and my favorite character was the guy who played bones. man that guy had that part nailed down perfectly. i guess we will see what happens, to infinity and beyond !!!
