External HDD

Bros,

Anyone know a good Data recovery place in HK? I've seen them around the computer malls and I went to one ages ago. It took the guy 6 months to get my external back!!

My 2TB external HDD was dropped by my maid when she was doing some dusting. All my files are in there (including my pictures!!) and I'd hate to lose them. Has anyone had personal experience with a good data recovery center? I don't want to go knocking on doors in case I get another idiot!!

Cheers.

Bad luck there rug. I would take a day off and watch those technicians recover your data. Remember what happened to this chap Edison Chan?

He may have to stay overnight with the technicians if the data recovery happens at the same speed as a deep surface scan. The technicians will most likely run a deep surface scan to check the platters. Have you ever notice as computers and HDD get faster and faster at transferring data, a deep surface scan seems to still run at the same speed as 10 years ago. A 2TB drive is huge and it would take a very long time...maybe as long as a day.

For computer repairs I go to a guy who runs his own computer repair and selling 2nd computers shop. The guy is the one who is in his 40s-50s and has white hair. His junior staff are not as experienced as he is. His shop is in the 2nd level of the 298 Computer Shop in Wanchai and is named Computer Exchange. The number of this should be 2834 2597. Take your HDD to him and if he cannot help you, he can recommend someone he trusts.

I had a external HDD that was dying and on its last legs, his crew helped me transfer all the data to a new HDD. Just a word of caution, one of his better staff is a girl. She may be offended if dirty pics are the first things she sees when gets into the drive. So if you look for the boss then tell him your situation and ask him to personally oversee your recovery. This will save you the embarrassment/red faces should a pic of Maria Ozawa sucking some guy's cock is the 1st file they see when they enter the drive.

That's a good point... there weren't.. or at least not many, pics of me and other girls (other than my gf). Though I'm not as famous as Mr. Chan, you're right, better be safe than sorry.

@ doghead - Thanks! I'll give him a ring and see what he can do. Thanks for recommending him. Is the girl cute? If so, a picture of some girl sucking my cock might work for me depending on how "open minded" she is... haha ;)
