It does sound like what he went through was incredibly extreme though and I don't know if I would roll the dice had I been in the same situation as him. Not only would all the chemo be torturous to endure but the stem cell transplant amounted to a bit better than  a coin flip on whether he would even survive It's still very promising news though

There have been cases where AIDS has been undetectable and the patient declared cured, however each time the virus was hiding only to emerge later.  However according to the wiki page the patient has been virus free for 2 years and it makes sense that this stem cell replacement could completely cure you. Anyone with the rare stem cells can now start making a bit of money by selling their marrow .
