What do you drink in KTV's?

What do you guys drink in KTV's in china?

I know a few girls in KTV's there (works at the Mayflower) and they say most alcohol are fake, either watered down or not originals.
So we have started drinking Vodka in hope that they are less likely to be fakes (as they are not as popular).

Anyone heard of this?

just order a bottle of chivas or whatever you fancy and most of the time, its sealed, so it wont be watered down.

of course, being china, everything can be counterfeit, but if you stick to the bigger KTVs, should be alright

as long as the girls are "real"...

I usually drink beer so I dont get too drunk. I have never had a problem with the taste and girls usually pour their glass out of same bottle so they're drinking what I'm drinking.

NOT true!
Fakes are all over the place and even the best / priciest KTV's have been known to serve up fakes.  And Chivas/Black Labels are favorite for fakers.

I got taught a check for Black Label by one of the sales gals working for the distributor;  If you look from the bottom of a Black Label bottle, you can see a crystal-like image of the Johnny Walker.  If it's fake liquor in the bottle, you will not be able to see this image. (Note, there is a market for EMPTY whisky bottles in China!! So even if the bottle is real, the liquor in it may not be).

Yes, I also usually just stick to beer for I end up getting bloated very fast and thus will not drink as much as if I was drinking hard liquor.

My HK Accountant told me more than 30% of China's GDP is fake merchandise. I don't know this for a fact, but based on what I have seen with my own eyes it wouldn't surprise me. It never occurred to me there would also be fake alcohol, however I guess why not. I have a lot of Mainland Chinese friends who regularly come down to HK to buy there luxury items like watches, bags, perfume etc from reputable retailers.

This has been discussed in another thread and at KTVs it's best to avoid Hennessy, Martell, Johnny Walker and Chivas which represent 90% of the bottles being ordered at the KTV. If they have it, go for Dimple or Ballantynes but there are some fakes of Ballantynes as well though less. I would think that 95% of the KTVs in DG are carrying fake Johnny Walker and Chivas which I believe is mostly made in Panyu.

I'll take a bottle of water and some poon tang, quenches the thirst everytime.

Actually I never been to a ktv since I'm always going solo so I don't think it would be as much fun.

Why is all the whisky they are selling blended. Don't they have any single malts on sale?

Would be interesting to taste a fake of any good quality whisky.

Volume versus Quality, you fake the most commonly ordered bottles to make the most profit.

Never had much problem finding Green Label at most KTVs, and while I can't say for certain all of it is real, it tastes decent enough.

For some reason, promotion or otherwise, Blue Girl Beer is so common in Macau.  I find it somewhat bad tasting though, but it's the qualityof the girls you are looking for, not the alcohol.

i try to avoid beer as well coz of the bloating feeling. I normally now drink vodka, and when the local girls drink it, they find it hits there head faster. They tell me their not use to the drink, so i take that as being less likely to be fake drinks.

KTVs in Korea pretty much force you to drink whiskey and end up drinking alot of it. Don't really mind too much till the bill rolls around.

I would usually order a soda.  If you start drinking alcohol then you may have to continue drinking until you are in a drunken stupor.  To avoid this I would cite health problems but in the spirit of things would match my soda to his hard alcohol through the night.
