Michigan woman sentenced to nine years' jail for sex with son

A MICHIGAN woman was today sentenced to nine years jail for having sex with her 14-year-old son.
The Detroit Free Press said Aimee Louise Sword, 36, from Waterford Township, gave the boy up for adoption when he was a few days old.
She received an update from his adoptive family, including a photograph, each year.
But when she failed to receive a new photo after the boy turned 14 in 2008 she tracked him down on a social networking site, the Oakland County Circuit Court heard.
"When she saw this boy, something just touched off in her - and it wasn't a mother-son relationship, it was a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship," her lawyer Mitchell Ribitwer said.
"Aimee's searching for a reason why this happened. She can't understand it. She's going to get some counselling."
Sword was originally charged with four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, but pleaded guilty to having sex with the boy once.
Investigators told the court they believed the pair had sex once in a hotel and also at homes in Waterford.
"It's a very tragic case, and I'm concerned for the welfare of this young boy and what it may have done to his psyche and his future," Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper said.
"It's the first time I've really seen something like that between a mother-son. But I have seen it unfortunately many times between a father-daughter."
Judge Daniel O'Brien sentenced Sword to between nine and 30 years in prison.

In this case I think it is better to keep the child unknown of his real mothers identitiy.

interesting story. think about the kid tho, i mean, he probly thought he was the man banging an older chick, but then he finds out that its his biological mom. crazzy, talk about reversal of fortune.

I feel so sorry for the kid. His life will be totally screwed up now...

When you typically hear about the incest situations, it's usually the father/daughter thing, seems rare you get mother/son ones.

Nonetheless, another messed up incest situation.

It frightens me to think how prevalent these kinds of things are!  

Fathers locking up daughters etc... things like that, just disgusting!

I google "Aimee Louise Sword" to try and find out more about this story and found this paragraph from a article:

"First of all, Aimee did not “track down” her son: His familiy’s social worker asked his permission to find her, because he was getting unmanageable at home and they hoped his real mother might be able to set him straight. Secondly, her son was not 10 years old: He was 15 – she put him up for adoption ten years ago, when he was 5. Thirdly, she did not “rape” him: he apparently coerced her into it and she gave in due to the feeling of guilt of having him put up for adoption. Mothers have a strong bond with such young children and the emotional pain must have been insufferable."

WTF!!!  this is so sick and screwed up.  I feel really bad for the boy.  you gave him up for adoption already which means you dont want to take responsibility for him, then why come back into his life and screw it up again.  Just dont understand what goes through people's head.

If this twist is true, i.e. he actively tried to pursuade his mother into having sex. Then it changes things considerably.

But given that the judgement was that she committed a crime. I guess anyway you slice it it's statutory rape, but there would be extentuating circumstances which I think woud've reduced the term from 9 years. Therefore, I'm not so sure about the twist in this situation.

Either way, mum seeking the son, son pursuading the mum, it's all so sick! Both must be in a really dark place to pursue such action.
