Is it still very hot and humid? does it rain alot? i am trying to decide between going around this time vs going around xmas. i know the weather will be better in xmas, but the ticket prices are much higher.

Towards the end of October onwards is when the weather is nice - not too hot or not too cold. The rain/monsoon season is between May and August. So if you planning to come around the summer months be prepared to get hot and sticky

Hard to say when travel delays will occur as typhoons are unpredictable - like girls mood swings when having their periods. If there are typhoons, it does messes up travelling to and from HK, if its very serious. We usually get one or two typhoons every year... I recall a typhoon on a weekend in August last year which was raised to typhoon warning 10 (meaning stay at home and lock the windows and doors and expect heavy winds and rains) during the middle of the night. Was in Macau at that particular time and couldn't get on the last boat back to Hong Kong, so had to spend the night in a sauna to past the time

I did, but acclimatised after a few days and now I almost prefer it to the dry heat of home. I'd imagine if you were overweight, the sweat and friction would go together with the heat and make it pretty bad for you though.

It also stops prices going crazy so a win/win. My October trips have always been great fun. From around October 20 on is good for Mongering. In terms of Bar action, April is the other great time from a Mongering point of view.

#10 Post at 8-6-2010 08:12  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L i came to HK in december the last time. weather was perfect and it did not rain at all. ticket prices were expensive though. from all the comments, i think i will pay extra money to go in dec. the problem is that i want to go to tokyo also and tokyo can get cold in dec.
