A SYDNEY waitress is selling her virginity, with final bidders facing off in a live auction.
In a new low in reality-TV, the debauched deal is the brainchild of a Melbourne film-maker who plans to turn it into a documentary.
Justin Sisely has spent more than a year recruiting male and female virgins willing to auction themselves on camera.
However, he faces being charged with prostitution if he goes ahead with the deal on Australian soil.
Speaking for the first time since selecting his subjects, Sisely said yesterday that he now planned a face-to-face auction in the US state of Nevada - home to "sin city" Las Vegas - with bidders in the same room as those auctioning off their virginity.
Sisely will pay each virgin $20,000 and they will also receive 90 per cent of the sale price, with the remaining 10 per cent going to the Nevada brothel where the auction will be held.
Bids will be placed online before the final auction.
Sisely said virgins previously selected had left the project and he was forced to find others willing to sell themselves.
He was in Sydney last year holding "auditions" with posters calling for "Virgins Wanted" over an image of the Virgin Mary.
"The hardest part is telling the parents, they hate me," said Sisely, who confirmed he had moved the sale to the US after receiving a warning letter from the Victorian Government.
A 21-year-old from Sydney, who uses the pseudonym Veronica, said her parents were furious when she revealed her plan to sell herself.
She said she signed up to the controversial project to earn money and to change perceptions about sex.
"Technically I'm selling my virginity for money, technically that would be classified as prostitution, but it's not going to be a regular thing, so in my head I can justify that I'm not going to be a prostitute," she said.
One of the male virgins, known as Alex, 20, said he had applied as a way of meeting someone. Another candidate, known as Ronan, said he was sick of waiting for the right girl and would consider any offers.
"John" said he was willing to have sex with a male or female bidder.
"Money is a good incentive but I'm really more excited about the journey I'm about to go on," he said.
The project has infuriated family advocates, with Family First Senator Steve Fielding branding it "absurd, ridiculous and disgusting".

Selling their virginity on reality-TV? This is stupid. What's worse is that this Veronica doesn't think she's a prostitute even though she's getting paid for sex session. The male virgins should be banned from such a show. How can anyone verify if they are really a virgin?

How do they *know* she's a virgin? For $20k I'm sure they could easily reconstruct the hymen and still make out like bandits!

My guess is that they would be examined and certified by a doctor.

Maybe Geoduck should notify the Tiawanese of this opportunity.

that's the first thing that crossed my mind. sure, they would be people willing to do this... but there would be a higher chance of people willing to lie about this and then do this ;

Think the Taiwanese would be able to tell a real virgin from a fake virgin. They take virgins very seriously. Their perception is that if they get a fake one they would have bad luck so have done lots of research on this. As for male virgins, I don't think there is any scientific method to determine whether they are truly a virgin.

Maybe you can't tell scientifically, but you can bet if she's had old boyfriends who banged her in high school everyone of them is going to be selling his story to the National Enquirer!

I think that just about sums it up. Call me old fashioned, but making a documentary about a girl auctioning
off her virginity, for the titillation of TV viewers, is just plain wrong.     I'm not blaming the girls, just the
depraved mind of the organiser.

They would have done a search of his history and have him sign a Statuary Declaration attesting to his virginity. It's a bit like when you fill out your car insurance, as long as you don't make a claim they'll take your word for it. If it was revealed by the end of the series that you had lied he would forfeit the prize money. This would work out well for the producers too as it would generate more controversy leading to more viewers at the same time saving them having to pay prize money.

The guy being a virgin is interesting. Would there really be that many woman willing to pay for a guy's first time? Or... how many guys would be willing to pay for a guy's viriginity? I mean, he would probably be clueless on how to give the other guy a BJ or what to even do in the situation. women? well... i could see a rich cougar willing to pay to be with a virgin male.

The guys would need to be young, virile, telegenic studs to attract the cougars and the viewers. Though I suppose they may throw in some ordinary joe just for those people who enjoy seeing someone humiliated and keep in mind one of the guys said he didn't mind being purchased for gay sex.

Do we get to vote someone off the island? Maybe the ugly virgins? Reality TV just plain sucks IMO
