Chinese Arts & Crafts

ummm this may be the wrong forum to post in for this stuff, but it's the forum i frequent the most
so i'm hoping some of my fellow mongerers can help...

i'm looking for cheap chinese art and home decor... i've already been to hollywood rd, and surrounding
area as well as stanley market. but it's waaaay too expensive and i can't find what i'm looking for...

in particular, i'm looking for a chinese "fairy" wooden wall panel... i once saw one of these in vancouver
and was hoping i could find a cheaper version here. but in my last three days of searching here, i cannot
for the life of me find it!!! it looks somewhat like the following pic, except it's more "fairy-like" then a mermaid.
and its supposed to be able to hang on a wall.

is there a district that sells arts and crafts at a reasonable price? i'm not looking for antiques.. i'm just
not tacky chinese crafts.

i know i'm just not looking in the right places.. if you guys could point me in the right direction it would
be greatly appreciated. i promise to buy the bro that helps me out the most a couple rounds of drinks

You can try Yue Hwa Chinese Emporium in Jordan.  It is above the Jordan MTR station.  They have some Chinese style arts and gifts.  The location is great as it is smack in the middle of all the saunas with fs, like Sands Sauna, plus KPressure is a block away.

The other place which is much more fancier and expensive is the Chinese Arts & Crafts store in the China Resources Building in Wanchai, Star House in TST, or in Central and Pacific Place.  Selection is not as varied as Yue Hwa.

I saw a shop in the convention centre shopping arcade.  It had this type of stuff.  I walked there from the MTR Wan Chai and walked on the elevated walkway to the convention centre.

Doghead is spot on with his suggestions. You may also try the Temple Street night market, I have seen lots of arty type items there. Also the Lady's Market in Mong Kok. If you are not familiar with these places, just ask at your hotel and they will give you a map, easy to find.

But did you at least go to the saunas or Kpressure nearby?  If you going have to make a trip to Yue Hwa, you might as well enjoy some R&R.
