#1 Post at 31-3-2010 00:26  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L HG's and their spare time while in HK having been to a few HG's now, I've learned that many of them don't really go outside their hotesl much when not working. does anyone know why this is? I don't think it's a fear of getting stopped by cops and having ID checked, since most have legit visas right? is it because the papasan doesn't allow them to venture out into town? some rule that they have to abide by? or could it be their personal preference to stay inside the hotel?

#2 Post at 31-3-2010 00:32  Profile P.M.  Font size: S M L It's quite simple, really.  They come here to work.  Mostly because whatever they make here in a week takes them a couple months to spend at home.  That being said, the money that they spend going out here will be equivalent to spending a months paycheck in a single night.  Think about the last time you did that? -cough-vegas-cough- And actually they do go out, but only if you take them out and pay for everything

HK would be much too expensive for them to go around shopping and what not. but who's to say that they have to spend? the feeling I got is that they never even venture out to see the city or anything.

Those that gave a reason said it was too expensive. And for first-timers in the city, especially those who are here for only a week or two, they try to make as much money as possible, so they hardly take an hour off, let alone a whole day. Those who have been here a few times, having accumulated some cash, can afford to take some time off to shop.

I was too inexperienced with the scene at the time and didn't know what sort of rules they had in place, so was too cautious to ask her out from fear of crossing the papasan's line in case I ever wanted to contact him again. hope she'll be back sometime...
