SIM cards

Will a prepaid Hong Kong SIM card work on a locked Docomo phone from Japan? Anyone know how to unlock it?

when you say locked, you mean locked to a network right? if so, you cant use another network's SIMin the phone. To unlock, google your phone and network and "unlock" and you will most likely find someone who can put the code in to unlock for you.

You definitely can't use ur locked mobile using HK prepaid SIM card. I suggest you to buy a low-end mobile phone in HK which just costs you few hundreds.

the phone is locked by your service provider.  if you want to unlock it legally, you will have to ask them to do it for you, and they'll most likely charge you a fee if they're willing

normally Japanese phone cannot use in hk even if it's unlock cos they don't use the same gsm network

the Japanese are quite protectionist about their phone, don't know why

I know lots of hk people especially girls who want to use a Japanese phone in hk but cannot

You could also find stores where they can unlock. You phone for you, sham Shiu po comes to mind.
But as mentioned phones are relatively inexpensive here, prob cost the same as unlocking your phone. Also if you plan on using it for mongering may as well keep it separate, that way its less likely you will accidently leave anything on your personal phone. Just a thought.

Yeah. That's for the ideas. I just came back from the Docomo shop and they won't unlock it. The cell phone market is messed up in Japan.

Be careful if you succeed in unlocking a Docomo phone as you might have a big problem when you go back on their network in Japan...

if it's a GSM phone, u can try take it to SinTat in Mongkok,
they can sell you a compatible hypersim (hk$50~200)
when paired with a normal local SIM card, the locked phone might just work.

i had my share of both good and bad experience.

had a docomo Sharp phone.
finally got it working after changing 3 hypersim.

the hypersim is just a very thin chip that you stack it on your normal sim card before inserting into the phone.
it overwrites certain locking codes on the phone.
each hypersim works for specfic phones, not all..
hence u need to trial n error on newer phones, dependent on your network service provider too.

I'm planning to use it with prepaid card. Will it work? I have a F905i phone. Do you know which one will work? I'm using that number for mongering.
