Police In Tai Po

I was in Tai Po for the first time visiting 4-6 Nam Shing Street and 1 Wai Yan Street.  The talent looked good and the price was right.  First punted with a girl at Nam Shing Street.  Walked over to Wai Yan Street and then back to Nam Shing Street.  Walked up to the first floor and there was about 6-7 men spread out (it's a small area so it was crowded).  I thought they were just a bunch of friends checking out the action because only one door was opened.  Then I noticed one of the men was standing on a chair and looking on top of what appeared to be a vent. Then one of the men looked at me and said something in Chinese in a very stern voice.  I said I don't speak Chinese.  He then replied in English "We're police and we're conducting an investigation!"  I said "OK" and left.

They seem to be interested in the one room.  No other doors where open nor did they appear to be interested with the other wgs.  I would assume if they were there for the wgs they would be knocking on all the doors.  Then again what do I know.  Maybe the wgs refused to open their doors.  Well, anyway beware.

Would like to post my actions in Tai Po before the police arrived but my access to computers is limited.  I have to use the hotel computer and I'm limited my the time and all the people walking around.  Getting up at this hour is not in the plans either.  Still suffering from jetlag so that's why I'm up so early.  Unless someone can direct me to a Internet Cafe where I can have discretion I will not be able to report and post pictures.  If I do they will be very short and I know how you brothers detest short reports.  So I have a decision to make post or not to post.

you should pick up a netbook so you will have privacy in your hotel.
anyway, you can always post when you get back to your home town.

Sounds a bit suspicious to me - a squad of 6 plain-clothes guys?? - aren't they supposed to show ID when they reveal themselves???

OK  if they're not police you probably don't want to make them feel threatened   - discretion is the better part of valour - but still I wonder

Good luck with the reports ... even if you can't post them immediately, I hope you can type them up while they're fresh (e.g. email them to yourself ...) and post them later!

DArtagnan

You bring up an interesting point.  None of them had badges that I could see and now I realize as I left the buiding I did not see any police cars.  Still, I don't know how the police operate in Hong Kong and I wasn't about to ask them for ID.

As far as the reports are concerned most of the girls I've visited already have reports in the DB.  Because of the horrors of photoshop I've only been visiting one's that have pictures posted (Mimi, Wendy and More).  Mostly from the Chat.  So I really don't have anything new to offer (except new poses). Have been to walk ups in Mong Kok and Tai Po but since I don't have their names posting will not help the brothers much.  I will go to Mong Kok today and hopefully find an Internet Cafe.

Plain-clothes police drive unmarked cars in HK, so it's not a surprise to not see police cars. What is strange is that usually some uniformed police would be around. If they were police, then no worries if the flats are proper 141s, i.e. operating only one girl per flat. You probably needn't have left and could continue to browse the other flats. If they weren't police, then you're better off leaving and not finding out what was going down!

they may very well have been cops, since bro Nova seems to imply that they seemed to switch btwn thetwo languages quite effortlessly.  there aren't that many people in HK who can do that w/o it seeming to be strained.  it is rather suspect that their badges weren't out if they were actually conducting official business. tai po is a bit far for me to venture out to, but i'm glad bro Nova has given us the heads up regardless.  i'm sure we'd all rather air on the safer side and avoid hassles

It really doesn't matter if they were cops or not ... not until they try to ask you questions or stop
you from leaving ... in which case you then ask to see their 'warrent' card ... if they hassle you -
demand to see their officer in charge and if you still don't get satisfaction then ask to speak to
their principal officer but remember to note down their numbers and if your phone has a recording devise
record your conversations !

The issue i believe, is that at i Wai Yan St there is a flat which actually has regularly 2 girls operating out of it.

Its Flat A, up the 1st flight of stairs. There are two rooms, but its definitely the same flat - so against the HK laws

Im not sure - maybe the cops had heard a tip-off about 1 Wai Yan St and then went to check out the other 141 place closeby as well, while they were in the vicinity anyways.

Both places are pretty easy to spot, to be fair - im sure its common knowledge to many locals in Tai Po

I agree it doesn't matter if they are cops or not AS LONG AS THEY ARE COPS ...

If they are cops, yes, there's nothing to be concerned about.  Frankly in HK all of my interactions with police have been excellent even when I've been breaking the law in some way (and I do realise YMMV of course, this is just my experience to date).

If they are NOT cops, the fact that they are impersonating cops and telling you to get lost is a big red flag ... my point is that I'd tread carefully and not try to insist on my rights too obviously until it was clear that they are the real deal.  That is exactly why their rule-book requires them to show their warrant cards.  Until they do, they are just civilians like anyone else, and a civilian impersonating police already is clearly motivated to break the law.
