My cousin is in deepshit! He has been mongering for a while (without us knowing that the other is visiting SNs) and suddenly confided in me about falling for a WG. He wants to take her private but don't have the moolahs ($$$) to buy her out - HKD100k to be paid to her agent in one go. I am still getting more details from him but I think my advice of staying clear is not going to be heeded.

that's not necessarily true. I'm as broke as the next guy but I still have my wg. actually shes not a wg anymore, but she was when I met her. now she's out of the business and we still hang out. she's just a normal gal and I haev no  problems about her past.

pay off the agent

If I'm honest, I wouldn't really ask for advice on this subject, here or anywhere. Yes, this forum may seem like an obvious place as there are loads of bros here with a wealth of experience on both mongering and life. However, the forum is here to share our experiences and activities. Not some agony aunt community. At the end of the day, what are you and your cousin going to do IF everyone here says 'bail her out and pay the pimp the 100k he wants'? Are you guys really going to do that because the bros on the forum said so? Come on, wake up...

Well at least you know what she has been doing and if you are ok with it.
I wouldnt hold it against her as you also were involved in this business as a customer.
100k is well worht it if she loves you.A divorce will cost ya more than that.

nope, she's got a job of her own. whenever I am in that area, she comes by to see me and we hang out. if I am in the mood, I buy her some clothes and take her out. but I believe the perks that come with that are worth it

What if this WG is in with the payoff........... She and the sauna works out a deal just to have your cousin cpugh up the money and she gets half or what ever the deal they have just to scam your cousin. Think about it. Don't trust a WG they are out to make money.

Be very careful here, you might be dealing with organized crime, the triad don't take any sh*t, if you don't pay them when they ask for, you will be in big trouble!

Your comment reminded me of that famous case a few years ago regarding a Russian wg.  Apparently the HK based expat and the russian wg were killed by the russian mafia in Eastern Russia in a payoff gone terribly bad.

Personally I think it is waste of time and money to make a wg your gf.  Best to wait until she leaves the industry on her own and is free and clear.  For 100k, I can use this money to chase a very nice, attractive local / expat girl here in HK.

Totally agree with this - there are two possibilities
  1. she is in on the deal, or
  2. she really is in deep financial shit to a pimp and can't be trusted to make responsible financial commitments

Here's what I suggest:- tell her (or better, the pimp) that you're going to have 100k ready in a couple of weeks - you just need a little time, and can he take payment by instalments while you take her off the market first?  

I BET YOU the price will double before you get to your payment deadline ... forgive my cynicism, I've seen exactly this happen in sales of quack medicine, in a particularly cynical and exploitative way ... when that happens, run, don't walk, as far and as fast as you can from her.  

If she's not in on the deal but has real financial commitments to a loan shark, you have a much bigger problem on your hands than you can afford.  Either she can handle money or she can't - if she can't don't tie your finances to hers, instead make her sort it out first THEN she can come to you.
