Whenever I encounter 'asian' places, they all seem to have a general perception among them that "all foreigners are rich". They believe that the lowly inflated foreign currency means that foreigners will pay the same nominal value of price as they would in their foreign country. That is, paying $200NZD for a WG in NZ is equivalent to $1000HKD. But, there is a tendency to look at the magnitude of the price, that is $200, and not $1000. So, they automatically think you are rich.
They forget to take into account that earning $200NZD in NZ can require as much work as earning $1000HKD in HK. So, they try to overcharge you.
