They are validating classic rumors / urban myths. Most the stuff is proven wrong but there are also some interesting truths....

Some very interesting facts in the first link you gave!
It is a fact that "Outdoor temperature can be determined by counting the chirps made by crickets". That is VERY interesting to say the least.
