This playoffs really shows how important matchups are ...

Spurs could not contain Gasol/Randolph downlow

Lakers could not guard the small guards or Dirk on the pick and roll

How true! I would like to point out though that the Lakers have went up against the Mavs before and they contained Dirk before.  The difference this time was (IMHO)
a. Dirk is a different player, these days he settles for maximum of 2 dribbles and prefers to go near the basket (but he still shoots 3s to spread out the defense)
b. JJ Barea.  All of Phil Jackson's teams weakness is always the small fast point guard who can score in bunches.
c. Tyson Chandler. a smart and active center that defends, rebounds and changes shots.
d. Kobe's body breaking down.  I read somewhere that he doesn't attend team practices anymore because his body has way too many injuries.  And not practicing contributes to poor performance in a game. (no rhythm, bad timing etc.)

Looks like you missed a HUGE factor in the Mavs winning khuran:

The Mav's Bench, more specifically Jason Terry

Had a good game 1 (15pts), average game 2 (9pts), then just went crazy in games 3 and 4 (23 and 32 points!!!!!)

That's not even mentioning Barea or Peja. Without a doubt their bench completely dominated the Lakers' bench players.

Yeah I feel bad for Phil Jackson, that's no way to go out.  Looks like pau/Bynum are gonna be playing in Orlando next year if the rumors are true.

Not many get to go out on top. Getting blown out in your final game is one thing, but man talk about cheap shots from the former champs.

While I thought Odom move was one of frustration and just getting the heck off the court, Bynum was just absolutely garbage!! I have no problems with hard fouls, but basically nailing somebody in midflight with just pure intent to injure, just ridiculous.  That play could have gone really bad, potential to have been career ending. I'd like to see some serious suspension next year, 20 games would be a nice number to start especially since Bynum is repeat offender, though it's probably unlikely Stern will actually go that high.

And now we can confirm Stern doesn't have the fortitude to really come down hard on Bynum and/or the Lakers

I'm convinced at this point that the NBA is fixed as a league. Miami is going to win it all because they generate the most buzz while next year, one of the other teams is going to rise up as the anti-Miami to develop a new rivalry (since people are tired of LA vs Boston again).

Interesting theory, Miami may get a few calls going their way but must hit the jumper to tie or win game in the waning seconds so with the outcome nothing is set in stone.  Dallas with Dirk and Kidd can spread out the Miami D.  Also Oklahoma with Durant and Westbrook can make for a very good series...

Looks like it'll be Dallas vs Miami in the finals now. Wow, that'll be awesome. Love the Heat, but also want Kidd and Dirk to finally win a championship....they definitely deserve it!

East finals set. Really hoping for a Bulls victory.
I'd say OKC closes it out as well for an OKC & Dallas West finals.

Would love to see Bulls and Thunder in the finals, as I think that'd be a great match-up. Both young, dynamic teams with a lot of depth.

It is about loyalty.  Doc was there when the Celtics were an atrocious team and they turned it around the next year with the addition of KG.   Doc has a good relationship with GM Ainge and this will ensure some continuity.  Doc was a well respected player and his style of player carried over as a coach.  Loved him when he played for the Knicks.

I think you're right!  5 years, $35M!  I don't give a damn if Boston's best years with the Big 3 are gone, that's a lot of money, and if I were Doc Rivers, I'd come back too.

As for the playoffs, the Eastern Conference Finals look like they'll be a great matchup.  Aside from the #1 seed Bulls vs the #2 seed Heat, we've got all the drama of Dwyane Wade returning home to Chicago, Lebron & D-Wade facing a team they spurned, and of course the MVP debate with Derrick Rose and Lebron rehashed.

Western Conference Finals?  Meh, not so excited about the Mavs or Thunder, and definitely not the Grizzlies.

100% agreed.  Miami took out Dirk and Dallas last time, but this time I really hope the Mavs can beat them.  Last finals Mavs had a  young PG, a good one but very young , this time around they have Kidd, let's see if these 2 old timers have enough juice left to take down the 3 headed juggernaut.

Miami loses the game against the Bulls.  Nice 21 point statement by the Bulls who by the way are now 4-0 including the regular season.  It seemed half of Chicago's points came off dunks.

Have to give props to Dirk for game 1, what an awesome performance. At the same time... KD had an awesome game himself... I would be surprised if OKC didn't win game 2.

Even series in the East now as well...

East/West finals are shaping up to be.. AWESOME

Momentum is all back with Miami....Game 3 in Miami...

I hope the Mavs have enough to slow down Wade and James.
