It is a good all round lens, good for general photography. I have been pretty happy with it. It is quite large however.

Is that the only lens you have bro....

What is the lense you are drooling over now...

ive always contemplated getting the  7D, the photos from it are absolutely gorgeous. the only issue i have with it is the weight and size, add a large zoom lens and the entire thing is pretty large man  ...

Guess what i went out and bought as a second camera yesterday.....

RICO couldn't resist....

The Canon 7D looks big but it fits the hand perfectly....

60d is too similar as 7d and if u like the rotating screen. it will be great to consider as u can snap pics with your gf

I got the Canon 7D yesterday as a second camera ....

The Tamron lenses which i have are quite distorted on the 7D...

The guys at Jacobs camera shop told me that if i use "CANON" lenses "ONLY" then my photos will turn out perfect.....

They were right and i bought a 85mm F1.8 Canon lense.....

That's a quick response from Canon...

The 550D only came out in September last year.....

The only thing i like about the 600D is that rotating screen and the slave flash option....

I asked basically the same type of question about getting a camera in HK.  I compared prices and places and ending up getting it in the USA by mail order in December.  I almost got the Panasonic GF2. After finding out the price, I decided not to get it.

Check out my question in this thread called, "Help with buying cameras in Hong Kong".

So what did you get in the end bro.....

I would recommend the GF1 if you are looking for a light weight practical camera combined with the 10mm pancake lense...

agree with you, both FF and APS-C has pros and cons. That's why many pro photographer use both FF & APS-C

re the L-lens, yes they are all EF segment lens. It's because Canon marketing only consider the FF cam as pro. The 17-55 IS has everything to be a L lens but it's not cos EFS

Why only shoot your enemies with a flash bro....

I find it that using a flash can sometimes be a bit harsh....Therefore having to attach a diffuser to soften the flash...

Technically speaking if your lense is F1.8 or F2.8 then there is no need to use the flash...

Flash photography is not easy to master...I have tried rotating the flash and bouncing the light from the wall but to no avail...

One good thing about having a flash is that you can go around blinding everyone paparazzi style...

RICO is quite impressed at the rate which the flash for the Canon recharges...

Earlier I did not realize that you already had a good range of lenses. In that case I'll agree with the previous poster that the Canon 70-200 would be excellent. Nothing but praise for that one.

Thanks bro but i think i need to buy some Canon lenses for the 7D which i bought as a second camera....

Canon lenses are not cheap....But are they really better than their competitors....

Plus it's very affordable at £691....

Are you thinking of adding that lense to your collection...

Bounced and/or diffused flash can be good. Adjustment can make it blend with available light.

"Technically speaking if your lense is F1.8 or F2.8 then there is no need to use the flash.."
No need if you're ok with grainy photos with high ISO. Flash does make a big difference in image quality. And for example it's hard sometimes get enough light to a girl's face in a hotel room without flash; eye sockets may be in darkness.

Yes, I think I'll be buying that macro in summer. Don't have any macro lens yet and itching to try.

the Spyder Calibrator is a device that sticks to you monitor so you can calibrate the colors. Most monitors do not accurately reflect colors and when you print they will look different. I use the Huey Pro from Pantone (similar device) and use it to calibrate by desktop and laptop. I've been happy with it.

So in another words it's a contraption that you put over you monitor to see the true colour of the picture....

RICO's still scratching his balls and head at the same time.....

If you are visiting, the cost of regular Canon / Nikon lenses is not worth the savings because you lose warranty, etc.

What you should be looking at are Sigma/Tamron lenses.. I picked up a Sigma 30mm F/1.4 for my 40d on a recent trip and it was a lot cheaper.  The 50mm f/1.4 is also very cheap is as well.

I went to a place called DC Fever in Sim City.. check it out.  The whole building is almost all camera equipment!

Also check out http://price.com.hk/ for pricing on specific things you are looking for.  It will also give you the information you need.

As for Spyder/etc., it is very useful if you print pictures.  You can match ICC profiles from your monitor to the printing place (depending on the place) to ensure your pictures turn out the way the look on your screen (or close enough).  If you do buy a Spyder, get the newer generation (the old ones are really cheap now) because if you have a good monitor (IPS, etc), it needs to be able to calibrate for 10-bit panels (my old Spyder2 doesn't).

Yes too much wide angle at the wide end. I quickly noticed that the wide end is not so good to portray girls, as it stretches so much outside the center. And as the viewers do not necessarily realize that, they were making comments of weird long/thin legs etc. So since then I've only used the 35mm when I do use it, and that gets close and good enough.

The first attachment an example of 16mm and how it distorts the body at edges of photo.

Second a 35mm close-up.
.

I didn't read your text and went straight to the photo of Angelababy....

RICO got the shock of his life when he saw that she had size 10 feet and 3 inch toes.....

Wide angle lenses are not that ideal for indoor shooting in my opinion....

By the way bro ...."EXCELLENT " photo Skinnyforum....Crystal clear....

How long have you been interested in photography....

How long have you been interested in photography.

Interested a couple of years and had a Canon 400D that time, but only took snapshots with automatic settings and had no clue what aperture/ISO/shutter speed combinations meant. Only started to learn how to use the camera in manual settings last spring/summer. Then lost the 400D and bought a 5D Mk II as replacement.

Now getting a little used to the basic settings, but still lots of trial and error. Those one to few minute rush photo sessions in hotel rooms are fun practice Often fumble in the excitement, but afterwards notice what you did wrong.

Main problems starts to be that I can't talk Chinese to the girls to ask them to take specific poses. Always have to show and imitate how I'd want them to move. So in the end I mostly just end up taking a few boring portrait and body shots.
