there are chinese generics for viagra and very reasonably priced. It should be available in herb
stores. I haven't sourced it in Hong Kong but have purchased viagra made in India from
Bangkok drug stores.

Is this some Chinese herbal concoction that works like Viagra? Or does it actually contain sildenafil the active ingredient in Viagra?

By definition, a generic drug must contain the same active ingredients and must be equivalent in strength and dosage to the
original brand-name product. In theory, it should have identical effects as the original product. Since Pfizer's patent for Viagra
expired there are 6 or 7 generic products on the market. But none will have the blue diamond shape of Viagra. That copyright
is still owned by Pfizer. The generic will be much cheaper than Viagra but I don't know if any is available yet in Hong Kong.

Yes, but is jon46 being that careful in his use of the word 'generic', or does he just mean a substitute? It was the 'available in herb stores' that raised my suspicions, because I've heard that there are herbal concoctions that have a Viagra-type effect, and that's what I thought jon46 might be referring to.

Has Pfizer's patent expired?! I didn't know this. You'd think the market would be flooded with true generics considering the demand and ease of production.  Was it such a generic that your guy in Wanchai is selling?

The are lots of available generics on the internet that are very inexpensive, but I thought they were illegal copies. As far as I know, the customs people are still stopping shipments of Viagra generics from Canada into the US.

I've an English friend in the States who buys Viagra over the internet and he says the rip-off rate is not insignificant - i.e., he never receives the shipment.
