I guess I have a different mindset when it comes to Bangkok (which is what this thread is about, no one's even gone as far as Pattaya yet).

I read a report on the PIMP club and it seems appropriately named. Apparently it combines the KTV tradition of paying women to sit with you with a known Thai tradition of selling overpriced alcohol, primarily tequila or whatever it is they claim is tequila, all at hefty prices. I assume the women there are attractive, but frankly, finding attractive Thai women in Bangkok is not the world's most challenging task. There used to be clubs on Soi 33, I dunno if they're still there, I never went and it's not my thing.

I repeat myself so often but then again, I read reports on this forum and others where guys go to BKK and have difficult/expensive times, so here's Jack's advice yet again:

1) Dress decently: long pants, shirts with collar, avoid the tourist uniform of flip-flops, shorts, t-shirt...all that. Yes it's hot, deal with it. Wear long pants.

2) Smile and be fun. Don't be that frowning guy. Even if they try to overcharge you, smile and work it out politely. A couple of things to avoid in Thailand: raising your voice in argument, or participating in physical aggression. The latter includes trying to intervene in someone else's fight. Think of it as a karma-game: if you smile and bring fun you win, if you bring negativity you lose. It has nothing to do with "right and wrong" or "the principle"--this is a different culture.

3) Some like a drink or two with their evening fun, but the atmosphere (not to mention cute mostly undressed women urging you to drink more) often causes punters to overimbibe. I read a lot of reports where guys cite "whiskey dick" as the reason they spent thousands of baht to not-have sex. Alcohol dehydrates people and in a tropical climate, this is not a positive thing. Try mongering and drinking soda water, it IS possible. If you read various sources you will quickly discover that problems in Bangkok are often in the wee hours involving people who are intoxicated. I can't tell you how to live, but again, I'm not there to drink--I'm there to fuck and have fun. I do what I do and I go where I go. But when I visit, and when I lived there, I was home before midnight one way or the other. And you can search my Thailand reports and see part of what I got up to--judge for yourself.

There's a lot more, but many WGs have learned that Western guys and non-Thai Asians will put up with stuff no Thai man would ever condone. Buy me drink, buy my friend one, do this, do that. Smile and make a joke of it. If you can learn a few Thai phrases this works better, but if you're dressed reasonably and not going along with this look-at-the-ATM-spit-out-money game, you're already ahead of the pack.

Just some general suggestions. I think the evolved-escort approach (which is what smooci has become, but there are others) might be a good option, but as ever, YMMV.

When I lived there I would just walk around lower Sukhumvit and approach whoever seemed appealing for a quick conversation. The Biergarten on Soi 7 wasn't paradise back then but was at least viable. But I didn't care where they were or what they were doing--picked up a gal buying snacks from a street stall once, brought her back to my condo. Ones I liked went in my address book for repeats. This was long before the African streetwalkers (WTF) and other nonsense so it may no longer be a viable strategy. However, the rate was (and I maintain it still is) a grey note, a thousand...ya know, plus snacks if they turn out to be fun.I made one exception: the half-Thai/half-Egyptian would not budge from 1500 and, well, she got it and was worth it.

But that was me and that was Back Then. Now all kinds of "digital nomads" and people who want outta-the-West are heading to Thailand, Bangkok is one of the world's more touristed cities, overbuilding is rampant, the BTS is clogged and blah blah. All the more reason to dress well and speak politely, say I.

I post and re-post my list of suggestions for Thailand because I'm constantly surprised at how well it works FOR ME. My Thai is lousy but I can greet people politely, make jokes, offer things like snacks appropriately and the dividends are astonishing. These gestures mean a lot to Thais, and perhaps are more meaningful given the glut of farang nowadays. There are some Thais who are just plain burned out and will persist in whatever scheme they have in mind regardless of how you dress/act, but they are the minority. If you are seen as a "jai dee" farang you'll find that Thais in the service industry and elsewhere will be "on your side"...at least while you're doing business at their place. This is a valuable commodity whether you're bargaining for some knick-knack or easing your throbbing unit into Noi's pulsating bunghole upstairs at a Soi 6 brothel. Oops, OK that's Pattaya, but the principle holds true.

Just my opinion, but it works for me.

Every girl's photo is verified, which doesn't mean much when the girls' reviews will say like "Photos are at least five years old." Going through some more girls' reviews, it turns out that many girls don't actually do their listed services, e.g., dfk, bbbj, daty, etc.

The agencies don't list all their girls. I've long theorized that agencies only put their lower demand girls on Smooci since Smooci lists a lower rate for them. Many of the agencies where the rates are 5,000+ THB don't have any girls on Smooci.
Many independents which I found earlier this year and was hoping to see on my upcoming visit are now gone. The number of girls Smooci says they who have listed, 153 when I just checked, seems to be a real time number, but that's lower than the 160 I saw them saying listed just a week ago.

For you gents who use other services aside from smooci, can you share some of the other agencies? November update tips when going with escort agencies or freelancers advertising online...

A recurring theme from reviews across all Thailand focused forums is that girls don't match their ad descriptions or photos. This is TRUE!

Just assume that every working girl in Thailand is using old and/or heavily Photoshop'd photos. This applies to agencies and freelancers. All those popular in Asia face smoothing and whitening photo apps are also part of it. This is common with all escort agencies in everywhere not just Thailand. Don't take any ad photos at face value.

The girls' descriptions are often bullshit too. Generally you can rely on their listed weight but that's about it. Ignore their age, weight and measurements. Usually they're just copy and paste jobs on all the ads. Obviously the problem now is how do you choose a girl if you can't rely on what the ad says? Well you have to change your mindset when looking at girls online. If you're happy with getting 50% of what's described or shown in the photo then you're good. Same problem with working girl ads everywhere.

Specific to people from America and Canada, bust sizes are different in East/Southeast Asia. Like a 34C in Thailand would be a a 34B in North America. Everything is bigger in America right? Or like a 34A in Thailand would be a girl with no tits in North America. I've often forgotten this and have disappointed myself when the girl shows up at my hotel.

To be honest the communication to hte immigration Department if using Airbnb or even private accomodation is not really going to affect short time mongers or travellers. Again it is mainly going to hit the Expat community as it involves form TM-30.

TM-30 gets automatically reported when you book into your hotel and they take copy of your passport details most hotels have a online system linked to tell immigration that you are there. Reporting for other cases like AirBnb or private renting owning your own condo or living in your own house there are a couple of options. Either you do form TM-30 yourself and take to immigration or your landlord does it for you.

It really wont affect short time stays as this does not involve 90 day report to immigration or you actually going to immigration for any other advice.

It has now bben heard that guys on long term visa who never did form TM-30 before are now gettting fined on their 90 day report if these are not filled in. Things may change and it may get different but as long as you using hotels and guesthouse's there should be no porblems and generally no porblems for most.
