either you come from Mars or you never use mobile phone in your life

sim card is the chip that you put in the mobile phone, it's call like that in hk, uk, aus, europe. Maybe in the us it's different like everything

This answered the question I was going to ask.
I thought about using my USA phone and just pay the roaming,but since they dont like calling the international number,I will get me a local phone someplace cheap.

in defense of Schurz, here in the States, we have many different carriers.  And yep, we're different than everyone else for some reason.  AT&T and T-Mobile do go through GSM and thus use SIM cards. However, Verizon, the biggest player in the US, does not use a SIM card.  Nor does Sprint or Nextel, two other big players in the US market.
