If you guys ever heard the terms Jook Sing (Western Born Chinese) and Jook Hop (China Born Chinese but living in a Western Country).
Jook Sing = A bamboo that is hollow through and through which means that he is open on both ends therefore having the ability to understand and absorb both cultures equally. Usually the word Jook Sing pertains to those who came to the West before the age of 7-8 or those who fit the criteria, speaking perfect English, and enjoying the ability to treat both cultures with equal and mutual respect.
Jook Hop = A bamboo that is plugged on one end but not the other which means that he is always going to be open to his Chinese side but the Western side will always have some type of closure not allowing him to understand and absorb the Western culture equal to his Chinese culture. Usually these are the people who came at age 10 and up from China, has a Chinese accent whenever they speak English no matter how strong a command of the language, and will always lean towards superior Eastern thought over inferior Western thought.
I think this should apply to those who grew up 100% Western and moving to an Asian country such as China or others. For them, Western though will always be dominant in their minds over Eastern though, even IF there is a great respect or not for Eastern thought.
Make any sense? Sorta confused myself too but I think I got my point across.
