Reading this makes me wish that Australia had a more progressive view towards sex.  I think our politics STILL kind of dictate that sex is a thing to be done between a man and a woman, while married, to make babies.  I mean, come on!

This kind of view of sex can fuck people up!  You know those crazy repressed types who you feel might just crack one day and go on a killing spree?

At least punting is legal here, although it is expensive.  I just wish everyone here would loosen up a bit about everything, we are one of the most censored and up-tight places in the world when it comes to sex.

I cannot think of any politicians/Prominent figures in Asia (except Anwar, Edison Chen, that idiot who got caught in Dongguan with the WG and a few minor figures) who gets embroiled and actually get brought down in a sex scandal, but regularly read about those personalities from the Western Hemisphere.

If a Sex scandal does happen to happen in Asia, most just shrug it off, and sooner or later, the perpetrator just come back on the scene OK.  I mean for example, look at that latest furore about our own Henry; that's already run out of steam only after a few days.

Bill Clinton, perceptively & publicly was a "sex rat" who got caught cheating and as such was tried and found guilty by the "moral majority". Silently many of us in the West were thinking... "she's not that good looking..." more so than "How could he!!!"

On the other hand when that "moral majority" travels to Asia, it's just a matter of time before they come unstuck. Asia's more open minded views eventually become our views as well because they make more sense... Lions & tigers "sleep around"... why not us?

When you take the emotion out of sex and just look at it as a pleasurable experience, why is it different than a good deep massage?

Just another comment about the attitude of Chinese vs that of Westerners, I remember reading in the paper in HK several years ago that in a survey they did in LoWu, 66% of HK male residents who were anonymously interviewed as they crossed the boarder admitted to having a wife in HK and a girl friend of some kind in China. A friend of mine (Chinese HK resident) were having a drink discussing this and he explained he thought it was hilarious... "you mean the high number of men playing around?" I asked... "No" he said... "How piss weak the 34% were to lie about it".

For myself, it's not that I can't get any action, but rather it's a nice break from all the games that civvies play here in China. I'm a pretty lazy person to be honest, and just the thought of having to make numerous calls/texts to my current or soon-to-be GF/SO makes me lethargic! And as my first sentence says, add that on to the games that these GF's/SO's play sometimes (although a generalization, as I've had a few who haven't played these 'games' as well) and it just turns me off completely. I just don't find the payoff worth the effort, and as I'm not looking for marriage or anything long-term as of yet, WG's just seem to be the cleanest/quickest transaction, as many have stated above.

At the same time, I recently took a break (ok, not a real break, but limiting myself to 1 session a week is probably the closest I'll get to an actual break) from punting as well. Turned out that the thing that turned me off from civvie GF's/SO's, I started doing with WG's (texts/calls/etc). My fault entirely of course for letting myself get even just the least bit involved, but again, despite all that, it's still a fairly simple transaction without all the hassles!

in the States, the idea of exploring The Hobby never occurred to me once when i was in my 20s. i was involved with plenty of civvies, that was one aspect. but then as now, the P4P scene was expensive, and largely populated with unattractive women who frequently indulged in substances and whatnot. given that u never EVER wanted to even suggest such an option, let alone be seen or get caught by LE or whatever, it just was Not An Option.

i'm not going to rant about the hypocrisy of certain social morals, but i remember when that moronic Bill the Clint "scandal" broke: some Aussie journo drily remarked: "i'm glad we got the convicts and they got the Puritans!" my Japanese girlfriend at the time was annoyed: not that Bill was having a bit on the side but: "he picked HER?! why didn't he find someone prettier??" quote, unquote.

i do spend time in 141 rooms and see the guys via security cam, they ALWAYS seem to be in their twenties. but ya know, more power to them! like me, and others who've commented on this thread, they want an interlude of technically skilled, no-strings-attached sex with an attractive woman. i personally don't see ANYthing wrong with that. but if i said so, in certain countries, i'd be frowned upon as some sort of monster.

maybe these guys have galpals, maybe not. maybe they just want some variety. it's hard for young people to find privacy in HK--maybe part of the draw is just space and time of your own, for a pleasant experience.

The Hobby suits me fine. i like not having to be spontaneous, but to pick when/who i can enjoy myself with. i try to ensure the lady has a good time as well as me (a lot depends on her attitude). but as Sony put it, and max45 can attest to this cuz he was there when she said it: "Jack is a nice guy." to me, that's a rave review.

Family is definitely more important in asian societies than in western ones. Or at least, the fact to keep it united. And the fact to take care of your whole family and not just the atomic family (wife, children).

We are divorcing much more, to get an other girl officially (same for girls by the way) or because it is just not working (whatever the problem might be, other girls/boys or not).
You are using mistresses and WG to keep your family.

That's two different ways.
But western people have not been seaching in their families for all their happiness.
I think that work and family are values much more highly rater in oriental than western societies. Where hobbies and personal entertainment are probably the most importants.

ps : and actually, in the post i take another shortcut, that a family needs a wedding link. It's not always the case in western societies (probably also happens in Asia too I guess, however I would think less).
