I did take the Scotsman to an expensive KTV at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel and the man was a beast. Wanted to fu** the WG in the KTV room which was not doable. Next day took him on the company boat with a few male colleagues. He yelled at everyone, "Where's the office pussy?" Obnoxious guy but he did give us business but my Singapore competitor set too high a benchmark organizing a BBBJ with two WGs for him in the backseat of a Rolls from the airport.

Then your company should have organized an orgy for him on the company boat.  Ask the boat captain to take the boat to international waters, then everything from the orgy, to multiple wgs, the pimps (your company), would all be legal.

What kind of a roller is he? Moderate? High roller?
Knowing what kind of a scene he may prefer

Plus depends how close you are with your clients.

Take him drinking and ask a simple question if he would prefer some company.
Take it from there.

The customer referred to is in banking. These guys travel all over the world from Northeast China to Argentina (areas with the hottest babes) and sometimes I traveled with them. I was one of the best at what I did in terms of client relationships and had a 95% success rate in making them turn.  The ones that did not turn never felt offended and some would even joke to me about my trying to corrupt them when we met up again. I find that even faithful husbands would still like to hear the stories and understand the scene without taking part in the act itself. They are always naturally curious. It's a male bonding thing and if you can bond, you get the business.

Business is business. I'm in the forest industry and my relationship with customers are related with male bonding other
related activites   . It seem the product ... service or product will sell itself but what makes the deal is
how your relationship is with the customer.

Banking is extremely competitive and perhaps bankers do not have the same morals as lumberjacks or forest industry specialists. Take for instance the Goldman Sachs CDO debacle, bankers will try and fu** anyone.

Never experienced a pro visiting me by surprise on a business trip! Would love this though, really would be cool, not having to pay for it....

I know from your writings, something in your writing gives off that feeling as well.  I am in that industry as well, too bad I don't get sent all over the world like some people

It's a sensitive matter when it comes to business, proposing WGs to a customer in my line of businss could just as easily lose you the business as gain it. Easy call though when your customer is so out there as your Scotsman. I would expect your Singapore competitors to have done their homework prior to the airport pickup.

GD your "Scottish" customer seemed quite obnoxious to me too. I have no problems mongering with customers , enjoy it in fact, but that guy would make me feel uncomfortable. For a guy to expect "Where's the office pussy?" to be on the boat for his pleasure I would definitely draw the line ... if he did it in our office he would be shown the door ... "we don't need your business".

A colleague of mine years ago had the terrible job of escorting the biggest rev$ customer's manager on an annual around the world 1st class trip to do some site visits to other customers in Europe and the USA ..... strange how they always spent the majority of the trip in Bangkok, etc., I guess breaking up the journey helps with jetlag.    [yes I was jealous].

Men are men, and as such, mongering always comes up in conversation between men, in my experience.  I guess it depends on where you go and where you are -- in Japan, for example, it's actually ok to come right out and discuss what you would like; I've had clients and VIPs would basically ask me if I can set them up with "real 100% Japanese company".  

If you've been doing this a lot, you naturally pick up the vibes and can bring it up.  However, as the OP is unsure and is new at it, try this method: arrange for dinner or drinks at a nice, classy place where you know that there will be plenty of eye-candy i.e. women in tasteful yet revealing evening dress.  Book a table near the high traffic area of the restaurant i.e. near the main aisle where guests walk in from the entrance to their table, or relatively near the aisle to the restrooms.  Seat the guest of honor in the chair facing the eye candy and see how often he loses his attention or how his eye wanders whenever a woman walks by.  If it's almost all the time, then you got yourself a winner, lol.

Once you establish he's looking at the eye-candy, bring up the topic.  Ask him how his wife or girlfriend is, then mention that having some company is always nice.  Usually at this point both of you will understand what you're getting at, and then you can mention that you like massages, etc.  If your client needs some more prompting, can always mention "massage" with a slight wiggle of your eyebrows.  If he still doesn't latch on, then better off moving on -- he's not interested, haha.  That, or he's not picking up on your clues, or he's just happily married.

As for bankers -- not all of us are so obvious as the Scotsman.  Granted, there are such people like him, but so rare... especially in these times and age where people assault you or throw rotten eggs at you if they identify you as a banker.  More often than not, if such a person behaved that way in my company, he would get tossed out on his rear on the street faster than you can say "sexual harassment".  VIPs and those who've been around the block are definitely more subtle in asking for a WG or escort.

If the Scotsman was a client to our company, we would definitely drop him ASAP, or at least ask his company for a replacement, lol.

Have had many clients ask for a WG but that Scotsman did make me feel uncomfortable. Never have I seen anyone so direct and obnoxious. When he yelled "Where's the Office Pussy" on the boat, one of my colleagues did say, "Excuse me, you are referring to our co-woriers? They're not whores you know?" That shut him up but it was the most difficult customer I ever dealt with. However, when he was back in Edinburgh, we talked on the phone and he was very normal and professional.

I once had two Arab customers that met me in Bangkok for company visits. One guy was very straight and would retire after dinner while the other one was really wild. After dinner he would ask me to go out with him and insisted on paying for drinks and the women. He's Arab but would drink like a fish and we will monger all the way till 6am. At 7am I had to go back to the hotel and freshen up and have breakfast with his boss. No sleep for me and another full day of meetings ahead. The young, mongering Arab obviously did not show up for any of these meetings because he was out all night with me but his boss didn't care as the younger Arab was a prince of sorts and had a big shareholding in the company. This went on for 3 nights, no sleep at all for me, drinking and mongering every night and heavy work schedule with his boss during the day. Thought I really would die if I went on like this for a forth night. Glad I don't have to do that nowadays.

I once had to do something so crazy but it wasn't mongering, but partying and drinking for 5 nights straight.
Only slept 2-3 hours each night by the 5th night I was so glad it was all over.

Took several days to recover, but thinking about it back now. It was a pretty memorable and fun experience for me.

I know people have a professional side and a wild side but when its too extreme... it kind of makes me wonder which ones the real one. If you know what I mean.

Aussies tend to swear quite a bit, almost unconsciously, but in the US just dropping the "F" word can be met with disapproving silence. I have had to counsel some staff to keep a plug in it when visiting over there when they get a bit too tanked whilst socialising.

Businessman from Switzerland, fifty something and travelling soon to HK. So I try to get organised; half a dozen clicks and you get to this site.
