To answer the original question....
from reports here and elsewhere, it appears that the girls in Macau saunas are making about $400 a punt, less expenses (they have to pay the house for condoms, etc). I would suspect that the average girl on an average day might punt 3, maybe 4. More on the weekend, example and fewer on the week days. So Let's sat $1500 net per day. Unless they are taking pills to delay their monthly time, they are working 21-24 days a month (if they don't take time off) so say 35,000 per month. Let's say they work 10 months a year, they get 350,000 gross tax free (for Americans, that would be < $50,000 a year).
To be honest with you, considering the work, they are fairly solidly underpaid. However, for a mainland girl who is more likely to make 35,000 a year back home (if she is lucky), this sort of money is very good. If she keeps her Macau expenses down, and keeps a good chunk of the money, and works 4 or 5 years, she can be a fairly well off person in many parts of China. Well invested, a million RMB would certainly be a life changer.
The real disappointing fact is that the girls make such a small amount of the overall door fees. The girls are getting less than 1/4 of the door, and still less than 50% of a "second punt" fee.
Just to put this in perspective: I know a couple of chinese mainland girls in their 30s who came to Canada and worked in the sexy massage business here. Doing only massage, HJ, and allowing some fondling and licking, these girls are making really good money. In Toronto, girls are getting anywhere between $40 and $80 "tip" per 30 minutes, plus often an additonal $10 from the door fee, and they are often seeing 5 or 6 clients per day. So $300-$500 per day isn't out of the question, which would be anywhere from $2000-3500 hk a day... and oh yeah, many of these girls work right through that time of the month because they don't give full access to the kitty! Even working 20 days a month, they are taking $40,000 to $70,000 hk a month. One of the girls, having done this work for more than 10 years, is a multi-millionaire canadian, putting her net worth at something like 10-15 million HK.
Working in a Macau sauna isn't exactly the way to get incredibly rich in our terms, but certainly in mainland terms (or for poorer countries like vietnam or thailand) it is certainly much better than they would get otherwise.
